…but I think it has been finally figured out. The Money and the Power that the Olympic organisation and the corporations that have bought into it have is truly frightening. I’ll be glad when they get out of town.
There was a big hoolabaloo here around the last winter Olympics. about “unauthorized use” of the Olympic brand.
Obviously some athlete had figured on a friends website wearing some official clothing or so. It was also some pizza debacle. A pizzeria owner had “invented” a new kind of pizza and called it olympic pizza. I think the pizza had to be renamed.
We’ve got a proverb meaning that sport gives noble feelings. The Olypic people might have forgot that.
I have to say that I was very glad to have missed the 1992 EXPO experience here in Sevilla (I moved here in 1993). Sevilla keeps putting the city up as a candidate for summer Olympics and I’d be quite happy to never see this come to pass.
Imagine if they ever held the Olympics in Toronto – most of the Greek restaurants on the Danforth would have to either close or be renamed.
And how in Hades did Athens deal with this in 2004?
I’m totally not getting the joke here. Also: how did I miss the tryouts? I’d have a lock on it.
The owner of the Olympic Pizzeria got $25,000 hush money, and changed his sign. I believe he’s allowed to keep the name, but he’s not going to use the rings logo until after the games are over.
This was awesome! I sent if off to my brother because it reminded me of some of the stuff he’s done.

The synchronized and free-style events had me in stitches. 🙂

I’ll make a similar comment to the one I made on Hootoo. I’m surprised that they haven’t been sued:

My favourite pizza joint in the West End of Vanouver has been sued:

The Olympic brand ? Gosh, I hope I don’t get into trouble for using a thumbnail of their logo.
