I’ve got the seventh book on pre-order from Amazon and I’m quite looking forward to that. But so far the fifth film isn’t being shown here in original version, though I’m hoping it may be soon as all the previous ones have been. The most popular cinema in Sevilla actually has the film showing in six of its twenty ‘salas’!
In the meantime, enjoy this splendid Comic Relief version of the second film . . .

Dawn French is 8) as HP. Saunders and French are never a bad choice 😀
Please help med with the other actors.
Jeremy Irons as Snape..? I recognised Hagrid, but can’t remember his name. Who are Hermione, McGonagall and Dumbledore?

Hagrid is Ronnie Corbett. Hermione, isn’t that Miranda Richardson?
Apparently the joke during the actual HP filming was, if you were old and could act, you got Gandalf; if you were old and couldn’t, you got Dumbledore.

Yep, that’s Miranda Richardson. But neither Nog or I could place Dumbledore or McGonagall.

Nigel Planer was the character with white hair. Haven’t read/seen any Harry Potter stories, so I’m not sure of the name of the character he plays, but he’s had a lot of roles in 80s and 90s British comedy, as well as Neil in The Young Ones, also supporting roles in Black Adder, Red Dwarf, and various other things.

Thanks for that g8ch. I’ve never heard of him but I just said ‘oh, Nigel Planer’ out loud this morning and Nog knew I was talking about this post.
Now we just have to find out who was doing that excellent Maggie Smith impersonation. 🙂

I wondered if it was Jean Alexander, but I don’t really think so.
Lets not forget Basil Brush as Dobby

Yes, Basil Brush was already identified, I think … but what was his real name?

I took Gabby to Chapters to await her copy of the last book, to be handed to her at midnight….
It was insane. I can understand the kids dressed up in costume but adults? Grown ups waiting in line to get their own wand (a stick they dipped in sparkles), to mix a magic potion (fruit powder and sparkles mixed with water), and to make their own magical plant (a piece of grass sod in a Styrofoam cup (covered with, the by now ubiquitous, sparkles)… while dressed like their favorite character…. Yeesh!
Of course, we all raised eyebrows when Tia, the 4 year-old daughter of a friend cried hysterically right through the door and out to the car because her mother wasn’t waiting in line for a copy they hadn’t prepaid for and she couldn’t read, anyway…. and could get today with no fuss.
Gabby, however, was pleased as punch with her copy and, I am sure, has read it all cover-to-cover.
I still haven’t read the LAST book because every time I get 1/4 of the way through, someone needs it back to “study” for the next movie.

Nigel Planer… I can never put any of his other characters together with his character from “The Young Ones”.

The “director” is Adrian Edmondson, also from “The Young Ones” (and married to Jennifer Saunders).
Ivan Owen used to be the voice of Basil Brush but he dies in 2000.
Alex Ferns played Draco Malfoy.

“died” not dies… Yeesh!

I can understand taking kids to the midnight pickup thing but I’m sure some of those adults were on their own.
