Isn’t it pretty?
Last night Nog & I were out for our usual Wednesday night tapas and on the way home we passed an electrical shop that had these lights in the window and we thought they’d be perfect for our new wicker tree. So this morning Nog picked them up on his way home from a class, which was a good thing because I probably would have decided they were too expensive (they cost as much as the tree did!) but now that they are up I think they’re worth it.
It’s hard to make out but there is gold mesh along the cord that has little red metallic leaves and flowers dangling from it, as well as little clear ‘crystal’ hearts. And this afternoon while I was out doing a bit of Christmas shopping I found a wee wooden star painted red and gold to put on top. Serendipitous or what? 🙂
Ooooh, starting to feel a bit Christmassy now . . .

I have to admit that it does look kind of cool.
As usual I will do precisely nothing christmassy to my flat. But I can enjoy others’ skills and pleasure in doing it.
A few years ago when I did bother, I had a little tree with a dove in it made from real feathers. But it was wrecked by my cat who climbed up the tree and tore it to shreds. It was hilarious.

Well, the wall came out looking rather orange in that photo (it’s actually a deep ochre) because it was evening and I wasn’t using a flash, but yeah, it really is something. First Christmas tree I’ve had in years. And those lights look like they were actually made for the little wicker tree. They’re also ever so slightly kitch 😉 , which makes them extra fun.
Weirdly or otherwise, Fanny, I was just telling Nog yesterday about a tree-top ornament I used to have in Toronto, which was a white dove made out of real feathers. That was the last time I had a real tree.

That looks awesome. You may have just started a new trend in Christmas tree decor. I love it.

Crikey that is a bit woo woo, That was the last time I had a real tree too.
If you ever spot a bird made out of feathers where you are, buy it for your cats. And you then make the ‘mistake’ I did when I got it of flicking the feathers roughly. it makes a certain sound the cats go berserk over.

Finding the lights was just so lucky. Ordinary size lights wouldn’t have been any good.
And it’s even prettier IRL than it looks in the picture.

*waves to baby* Keep in touch if you have any questions about Barcelona. 🙂
Yeah, all the other lights we saw were not only too big and clunky but they also had green cords … this one has a clear goldish coloured cord with the ‘micro-lights’ attached. And then the gold mesh and baubles.
Just re-did the photo today after finding a way to get the star to sit up on top of the tree (rather than hang down from the top of it).
