Today is the first time I’ve worn sandals this year … just a bit later than last year. But I haven’t been out a lot in the afternoons lately and mornings & evenings are still a bit coolish. Anyhow, it felt wonderful, though as it was a last minute decision I didn’t have time for ‘happy toes’, so I will have to start painting my toenails cherry red again. π
With global warming, you’ll be able to wear sandals year round!

‘Tis true, mad. Though I think it’s always been quite hot here in AndalucΓa. We also sometimes suffer drought and water shortages here, though these tend to hit the surrounding villages more than the city.
It’s said that the next major world war will be fought over water, not oil. A scary thought, especially given where I live.
Meanwhile, people here are always very conscious of water conservation and never complain when it rains (well, I do, but only in jest … I’ve lived through one serious drought here and it was no picnic having to shower in stinky water from the river after all the reservoirs had dried up). And yes, that was my worst hardship, for which I am grateful. Surrounding villages were hit harder, with people only allowed two or three buckets of water a day for cooking and washing, etc. I may talk lightly about it sometimes, but it is a real concern.
What kills me are the golf courses on the Costa del Sol – apparently they use the same amount of water in a day that could supply a village of 10,000 inhabitants. And that’s not even including the hotels and swimming pools. Just the golf courses. Makes you wonder…

I try to wear sandals (Thongs, flip-flops, whatever) anywhere I am sure there are no snakes!

Well, good thing I went out in the sandals yesterday – it’s raining today and the weather forecast is for rain until at least Thursday. And no, I’m not complaining. π
I think the newer courses have more ‘environmentally friendly’ ways of watering, nursemyra, but I don’t think this is very usual.

Golf Courses will be first to be bulldozed and replanted with drought-tolerant local plants when I am Empress of the World… I hate Golf Courses, they are so ugly and inappropriate. And don’t even start me on Golfers…

The temperature was -1Β°C this morning and we have a beautiful blue sky. My sandals are beyond repair so I’ll have to buy some new ones.

Tiger Woods should stop smiling and looking so pleased with himself. Look what his ‘sport’ has done to the landscape. And I wouldn’t be smiling if I had to wear shoes and sweaters like that, either.

Well quite, truce. I mean, there may be an argument to be made for the shoes but I don’t think there can be any excuse for this …
