Came home after many tapas and mucho vino to find WordPress has totally changed everything… so that I have no idea how to upload my photos… nothing looks even remotely familar.

I was a bit startled, too. But had no time to post, anyhow. But you got me curious, so I poked around.
It looks like there’s a row of buttons that says “add media” at the top of the “post” window when you write a new post.
I read that we can now upload whole folders of images now, too. But haven’t figured that bit out yet.

Yeah, what a surprise, huh? I guess you have to be a regular reader of the WordPress blog to be informed.
Anyway, once you spend a little time with it, the new layout is actually very straightforward. To upload photos to a post, click on Write, then on Post and the new Write Post window will come up. Above the row of formatting buttons at the top, is the legend Add Media, and to the right of this are four icons for various media types. If you place your cursor over an icon, a tool tip will appear that tells you what the icon represents. Photos are the first icon to the right of the legend. When you click on the icon, an upload window will come up. You can upload as many files as you wish at one time, which is a big improvement over the way it used to be. Armed with an industrial strength cup of coffee (though with many fewer brain cells than I had yesterday) I’ve been playing around with the new dashboard and it’s starting to make sense. I’ve also had a look at the WordPress announcement and some of the comments there.
Apparently the spell check is temporarily broken, daisy. I didn’t even know there was a spell check.
There are a few things I don’t like about this new system, but I LOVE that we can now justify text. In fact, I like most of the ‘kitchen sink’ options.
Uploading whole files of pictures would be quite handy for my tapa blogs … I wonder how I can update those (they’re on WordPress.org).
