The other day my friend Kristin suggested I try out surfthechannel to find a new tv series she had recommended. So I checked it out yesterday and it looked like a fabulous idea, but upon using it I have found a few annoying glitches.
STC doesn’t stream videos or host content and so the videos available are hosted and shown from sites such as Y! Video, Tudou & Megavideo. I’ve tried all three. Tudou has massive subtitles in Japanese that take up almost a quarter of the screen, Y! Video has serious buffering problems and Megavideo limits your viewing time to 70 minutes – if you want to continue watching you either have to wait an hour or else pay a monthly fee (10⬠a month). Also, if you click to full screen on any of them the image goes all pixillated. It’s a shame because STC has a massive library that includes films, cartoons, sports, etc.
Has anyone else tried STC?
Looks like it’s back to adding to my Amazon wish list …

Have you tried hulu.com?
They seem to be less glitchy than a lot of sites.

I hope you get a chance to find something that works okay. I’ve never been able to stream viedo, but I can do audio sometimes. Movies are the impossilbe dream.

I’ve used hulu and I also buy and download episodes via iTunes here at work for a couple of dollars. Then we copy them and swap them at work – so its like a cheap lending library amongst friends. š

im lucky enough that i can check my email and check up on your blog. with the little one running around and pounding on the keyboard, my internet browsing is limited. maybe while she’s napping i can sneak a peek at it.

I thought Hulu was limited to the States. I know there are ways around that, but I’ve never bothered to properly learn them. (I probably should, since I’m now doing web design. The odd proxy server might come in handy.)
TRiG.

I had a look at Hulu and it had a really poor selection compared to surfthechannel. Maybe I’ll check out iTunes.
If you copy them can you play them on a normal dvd player, truce, or do you have to watch them on the computer?
