Awhile ago I was tagged on healingmagichand’s bookshelf “me-me”.
Choose a random 18″ section of your bookshelf and list the books that are on it.
Well okay, maybe that choice wasn’t totally random … 😉

That’s a lot of Pratchett!

HaHa…the plan at the new Anchovy World Headquarters is to turn the living room into a library, but we aren’t quite there yet….sooooo, we have no bookshelves, just box after box of books…

The last time I saw that much Pratchett in one place, I was in a book store! Wow, I’m impressed.
So, we can gather that you like Discworld, then?

And that’s not all of them, just an 18″ (ish) section. I think I’ve got about ten more. I’ve taken Hogfather out (it’s lying on top in the pic) for my holiday reading next week. *glingleglingleglingle*

has Nog been tidying your shelves again?

What makes you think they don’t always look like that, nursemyra? 🙄
Nope, not Nog this time. I did a quick tidy up before snapping the photo. Mostly just removed the huge stacks of papers, bills, etc that end up taking over the space beside the printer. They’ve been put back now. 🙂
Did you notice the growing snowglobe collection? Hmmm, that also reminds me of a Pratchett novel…

Why not totally random? Do you have anything to hide, Az? :nosy:
In any case that’s a very beautiful 18″ section

I could do a such shelf – or three and a half I think. But then I have quite a few of them in two languages.

ahhhh, until my books ship over from the UK in January, I can’t really join in this meme… at the moment I have piles of books on the floor rather than lovely shelves!

I’m not really sure how one would go about picking a “random” section of bookshelf. I more or less know what is on each shelf. (I spent close to 5 years working in bookstores, so of course my books are at least grouped roughly by subject and/or author.) I supposed I could come up with an elaborate scheme of numbering the various shelves in our house (I have books in at least 14 bookcases around the house) and then pick a random number. But then what if I end up with the stretch of books that I mostly got as bargain books, and don’t really care about?
John is a big Pratchett fan, too, by the way. They are his comfort books, that he rereads often. I enjoy them, but have only read a couple. In large part because I haven’t had time for reading for fun the past few years. (Or because lately my fun reading has been of blogs!)
By the way, have you read Good Omens? I’ve been meaning to reread that.

My books are divided into two sections (fiction and non-fiction). Fiction is organised alphabetically by author.
“They are his comfort books, that he rereads often”
This past year I’ve been seriously in need of comfort books and have reread many of my favourite Pratchett books, as you can see on this list of what I’ve read in 2008.
And no, I haven’t read Good Omens! But it’s on my Amazon wish list now. 🙂
