This is what I did yesterday (with Nog’s help).
All the while I haven’t been able to work (since last May) I’ve been thinking about what I was going to do once I was able to get back to work again. Which was something I thought wouldn’t come to pass for a few more months because of being on post-op chemo, but suddenly it’s now! And although I’m still not totally sure about what’s going to happen, this hasn’t stopped me from taking immediate action. And the first point of business was to create an “easy-to-work-in-multi-concept space” … as in, I have no idea what the fuck I’m going to end up doing, but I want to be able to do any or all of it as easily as possible. 😉
The biggest room at casa az is the livingroom. To the left of these tables are the bookshelves and my computer desk, to the right is the sofa, as well as the TV and exercise bike. This is what it used to look like …
But to be honest, unless we have company, Nog and I tend to eat our meals on the sofa while watching a dvd, and so the so-called dining table was mostly used as a desk when I was teaching. And since Nog has started teaching, he’s been using what we still call “Lua’s Room” (because it was where my cranky Lua chose to spend the last few days of her life). This is what Lua’s Room looked like “pre-Nog” …
And this is where Nog has been teaching at home lately – just imagine it without the sewing machines and clothes rack (the room actually stops on the other side of the clothes rack, so it’s pretty small). Below is what Lua’s room looked like after Nog & I tried to get the natural clothing biz going…
I used to have to lower one of the tables in order sew stuff, then raise them both up for cutting. Which is kind of like the new set up in the livingroom now, giving me more options and still leaving me with a teaching area, and also a dining table when we want to use it. I have to say that it felt great making all these changes – I really love organising stuff.
And so, now all I have to do is figure out what to do next!

All looks lovely and bright and positive. And there’s nothing quite like rearranging the furniture to lift the spirits – I do it every 3 months or so 🙂

Gad, come do mine, too, k? I’m terrible at it. No vision.
My sister in Idaho comes up occasionally to bail me out that way. She got the decorating gene.

Well, it was hardly “decorating”, Beth … just moving things around and getting better organised. And of course, those tables will never look that tidy or dust-free again.
How about next weekend, mudhooks? You turn on the webcam and I’ll supervise. 😉
You’re right about it lifting the spirits, truce. It feels like a little “new beginning” and something physical/visual to mark this new chapter of my life.

Yeah, my decorating gene is recessive, too.
But I do rather like my uncluttered, new look “den”, and the split-level table arrangement in the living room is pretty neat too.

You don’t know how badly I want to come to those open windows and see what’s outside.
Reorganizing is so much fun!

Must be in the planetary arrangement. Jim and I have been contemplating some rearranging at the Havens also. No action taken yet, but contemplation and discussion is ongoing. I think moving furniture around changes the energy of an area, sort of a real world manifestation of the “furniture rearrangement” going on in your head as you contemplate the next phase of your life. I hope that whatever business you decide to get into is successful and rewarding.

Geez, could I use the world “contemplate” more often in one short comment???

From the livingroom you’d see this, CJ … and if you opened the bedroom balcony doors you’d see this.

How I long for a preview button on WordPress, hmh! 🙂
And yes, reorganising is not only a lot of fun but it’s really helping me organise my thoughts and plans better. More on that tomorrow.
