Pip was feeling a bit under the weather this past weekend, so yesterday I taxied over to her place with a prepared lunch, including a roasted chicken, basmati rice pilau and an impromptu onion sauce. The idea was to keep up with our weekly “baby step” planning thing, and we did end up getting those steps sorted out for both of us. But we also ended up doing a bit of gardening and playing various games that only an almost-five-year-old can think up. As well as watching a bit of Spongebob …

Anyhow, it was a lovely afternoon and as I was cycling home afterwards I thought about how rich & happy my life is now because I know Pip. And also that little Kidlet. And all of you.
What a nice lunch to deliver! You sound like a good cook and I’m hungry.
Isn’t it fine that you are up and around and can go do things to make someone *else* feel better? You’re a lucky woman.

Kid-fun is the best fun….
I went to my friend’s son’s first party (not as in 1st birthday… first party requested and hosted by him). He had been BEGGING for a Valentine’s Day party for weeks and so three-year-old Noah had his Valentine’s Day party.
That was where the gigantic Valentine Potato from my blog came from.
Fun was had by all until Noah’s cousin Tai jumped off the bunk-bed, landing on Robbie who has Hemophilia and, while Robbie was miraculously unhurt beyond a bump on his head which did not (thankfully) end up bruising or bleeding, Tai bit his own tongue very badly and had to go to the hospital to have (probably) stitches put in it.
That brought back vivid memories of the day my brother insisted on jumping off the porch while I was skipping. I said “NO!”, he jumped anyway, his chin on the way down hit my head on the way up, he had his tongue between his teeth and… well, all I can say is that stitches in the tongue look as bad as you probably imagine they do…
There ARE times when… very rarely, I am sort of, in a very vague way, glad I don’t ever have to deal with kid accidents and very glad to have the best times with my nieces and nephews…. and grand nieces and nephews.
PS… There is the old curse “May you live in exciting times”. Things have been rather “exciting” for me recently and not always in a good way… check out my latest blog entry.

You’d love the onion sauce too, zoomer. It was quite delicious, if I do say so myself.
