So I was just sitting here with Susan (Pip) having a nice lunch and talking over our future plans (and making lists!) when Nog came in with today’s post … and a wee package for me! I read the adorable postcard first that said “Something to protect your little tootsies from the nasty cold floor” … and saw it was from Linda (aka Beatrice). Oh! And I said to Susan that I was sure I’d seen these little slipper sock thingys before and she said – “yep, at Marks & Spencer in Gibraltar”. Ha!
Almost made me cry. Just, you know, the thoughtfulness that someone remembered how the cold floors hurt my bare feet when I first came back from the chemo infusion, and then popped these in the post for me. And they’ve also got the eensy rubber pads on the bottom so I won’t slip around. Well, be assured that I’ll be wearing them a week Thursday, Linda. And thank you so much!
ps. Just finishing the Heal Your Own Back book and will be starting on Stephen Fry tonight.
Moab is my washpot by Mr Fry is an excellent book.

Hey, how did you know that was the Stephen Fry book Linda sent me? Or was that a lucky guess?

It’s quite sunny and warm here today, Puddock. I think we are experiencing another of those Scottish warmfronts. 😉
The floors aren’t actually too cold now during the afternoons, but first thing in the morning and at night I’ll have to keep the feet covered, especially during the first week when the hand/foot/cold thing is the worst. I’m lucky I still don’t live next door with marble floors (brrr).
Anyhow, I’ve got them on right now – love those little antiskid grips.

Jumped over from Collecting Tokens and just wanted to say that I used the “Heal Your Own Back” book and like it quite a bit. I like that I *understand* things better and feel more empowered to do something when a flare starts. The recommendations are along the lines of basic Iyengar yoga poses — this has kept me out of the hospital more than anything else! I hope it works well for you!

Well, you also had THE ELEMENT OF SURPRISE going for you, Linda. Nobody was expecting it …
Hi Holly, and welcome! What I really love about the back book is how the author disagrees with “passive treatments” and is showing people how to help themselves. It’s already helped me by doing some of the exercises when the first sign of “twinging” happens. Immediate relief. It’s amazing.
And before Johnny shows up and says he told me so (again), yes, you were right! And I should have bought the book when you first recommended it.
STILL haven’t started Moab. Will have to stop taking the iPhone to bed to catch up on my tweets. It’s taking up my usual reading time.
