My friend Sara (happily owned by those two wee rapscallions Foley & Murphy) did the central London Race for Life with her mum this past weekend. Considering that she just finished treatment this past January I think this was quite an accomplishment. It also brought happy tears to my eyes when media naranja Steve sent me this photo yesterday saying, “this picture is just to let you know you are in our thoughts, and that you are not alone, no matter what”. For every so-called friend or family member who has dumped me over the past year, this really makes up for it.
Thanks Sara & Steve. That really made my day.
They were running for life up in Oirland as well.
Here’s a video of h2g2 pal Beatrice doing her part…
Well done, girlfriends!

You must’ve been able to see the glow off that shirt and sign clear to Spain.

A sea of pink…
You… I lost my friend to lung cancer, my friend Krys’ mother is having a mastectomy this week. Sighhhh… just too many people I know in this fight.

I just love the Race For Life. There were ladies aged 8 to 80 ‘racing’ on Sunday in mutual support and celebration.

Love the pink! My sister did the Avon Three Day Walk to celebrate her fifth anniversary of finishing treatment. I hope you will live to do the same or similar.

Go pink girls! We have a similar thing here in Sydney on Mother’s Day, which I did last year. Nearly killed me cos I hadn’t paid proper attention to the route so I thought I’d finished at the end of the first lap… only to discover that we had to keep going round one more time! Aaarrrrgghhhhhh.

Also, I have a clear sense that you will be wearing one of those tshirts, with your survivor status emblazoned on it, in several years time as you run round the course in Seville… and we’ll all be watching and cheering you on (from the sidelines, while we eat cake, of course)

I seem to recall a similar event going on here a month or so ago, woo, but the only way you’d get me into a PINK t-shirt would be at gunpoint. Not my colour, I’m afraid. Neither is cobalt blue, but as the official colon cancer ribbon colour I reckon I could stretch to a blue t-shirt. Maybe next year?
Looks like it was great fun, Steve.
It was also great seeing Bea’s video (and Bea – in pink visor), though I was surprised not to see her doing a few salsa steps along the way.
An award? For me??? On my way, Trojan!

No salsa-ing along the way (more into Scottish dancing these days anyway), but I did do a bit of “6 million dollar man” type slo-mo on the home stretch: Roger was taking the photos and almost missed me as I went passed, so I had to let him get ahead of me to take the picutres, and I slowed waaaaay down…
