Identical tree lights being used in Coventry – the light runs down the ‘icicle’ so it looks like its dripping ~ we also still have a real Christmas tree ~ donated each year since the war by the people of Belgrade.
The picture with the band playing is interesting. “La cigarreras de oriente” – Eastern Cigarette? Something like that? It is very like the masonic order march my father used take part in…in terms of outfit/colours…Curious.
Yeah, I don’t know much about those guys, other than they are one of the many Semana Santa bands. While I was walking up Sierpes they were walking down, big noisy procession … apparently they were helping to raise money for children. They also made a big splash recently with their homage to Michael Jackson during the band competition this past long weekend …
I was told by my friend & student Guillermo (who lives up the street next to the Horno) that I was lucky I went to Málaga for the long weekend because they had this crazy band competition on the Tuesday … closed down Constitución, sold chairs, had a hundred bands marching up and down. First time ever. Who knows why they do these things?
I haven’t noticed whether we have any christmas lights here. That’s most peculiar. We probably do (then again, even the christmas market doesn’t seem up to german standards). Is it because of the snow which keeps my nose towards the ground?
