Yesterday I went to the foster home where the three little kittehs are staying with one of the Defensa Felina volunteers, to finally meet them all in person and decide which cat was going to become Azar’s new buddy. And oh, what a decision to make! They were all adorable. Nog and I took turns cuddling each one, but the more we swapped kittens the harder it was getting to not want to take all of them home. So we put them down and watched them walking around a bit  and then we put them in their little basket. And while the other two slept the little orange kitteh decided he still wanted to play…

Apparently he is the runt of the litter. All three were found out in the rain in a piece of construction tubing. Their mother had stopped feeding them and they were all in pretty bad shape with runny eyes and sinus infections. Livia has had them at home since then (she lives with her family and three other beautiful cats) and the kittens were treated with antibiotics and nursed back to health. The runt is the only one to still have a bit of congestion and weepy eyes, and he is noticably thinner and smaller than the other two. But he also seemed a lot more curious and interested in playing and especially climbing onto human shoulders to have a different look at things. So I guess you know what happened.

Yes, the grey & white kitten was the prettiest, and the black & white one the most robust. But there was something about this little inquisitive guy that finally stole my heart. And of course Nog was always partial to him. So if all goes according to plan, we should have a new resident at casa az next week. Livia has to check with the vet on Monday, to see if the kitten still needs to be on meds. If so, I’m told I can still take him and keep on with the treatment, but they’ll want to give him another check-up and put in a chip before handing him over. And he’ll get his first vaccination shot a bit later, once the meds have cleared his system.

I am sooooo excited and can’t wait to have the little guy here. I’m hoping we’ll get all the stuff sorted early in the week. And of course I’ll need a name for him. Any suggestions?

I’m thinking of calling him Tapa…
