Is it me, or is foursquare just stupid? Like the Facebook zoo thing.
Anyone out there who actually likes foursquare?

I had to look it out. I guess it would be worth fooling with if you go out a lot. Who has time to do that?

I only go out to get new photos for Sevilla Tapas (the things I do for my public!). Though I suppose by now I really should be mayor of the Corte Inglés supermarket.

I am now agog with curiosity. I’ve never heard of Foursquare before. I went to the site, but it’s currently down.

I guess, like everything, it has potential. But unfortunately, the vast majority of people dont use it for its potential and miss the mark completely.
Where you are, right this second, comes under the category TMI – Too Much Information. Likewise, what you are wearing, and what you had for breakfast.
Using social media tools should reflect real life, i.e conversations. Would you ring someone up and randomly tell them “I am having coffee at Starbucks?” OK, maybe you might tell someone, but not generally broadcast that information.
What makes me laugh though is the recent coverage on the website http://www.pleaserobme.com which highlights how many people update the fact that they are not at home. Well doh, do people really need to obvious security risks being pointed out to them about highlighting that your home may be empty or worse. Why not write “I am in Starbucks having just gone to the ATM” Equally stupid.
For me, an essentially private person, it doesnt appeal.

I’ll say you’re a private person. Who ever heard of a social media maven who doesn’t even have a blog! 😉

No iPhone, so no problem.
Hey, I saw the pictures of the new kitteh over on twitpic, what a doll. Of course Azar is not amused. His nose will be severely out of joint!
Maybe you should call him Ears. . .

Like many social media things. I think it would be more annoying to me than anything. Which reminds me, I must disconnect Brightkite from my email, as I don’t care that Rob D goes to Pike Place Market every frigging Sunday.

Well, I finally succumbed just to check it out. Not sure how much I’ll use it, but I expect to be mayor of El Corte Inglés and my gym before long.
