Just waiting to find out if there is going to be a new resident at casa az today. I mentioned here a few weeks ago that someone was looking for a home for a blind kitteh and at first I thought – no way. But after speaking with the woman who has been taking care of him we decided to at least give it a try. Pilar lives in one of the villages close to Seville. She has three cats of her own that live in her house, and aside from that there are about twenty cats that hang around her garden that she feeds and cares for, including getting them sterilised (she has a deal with her local vet). When she got home from her summer holidays last year she discovered a wee blind kitten in her garden and has been giving him special care, but she says her husband will divorce her if she tries bringing another cat into the house. The thing she is most worried about is going away for holidays in August, because apparently the blind kitteh gets pushed aside by the other cats at feeding time and she is worried he might starve to death when she isn’t there to feed him separately. So after talking things over I told her that if there is no obvious upset with having the kitteh here then I will take him for the summer and, depending on how things go, consider keeping him permanently.
Pilar was supposed to bring him over today, but she is having great difficulty getting him into the carrier. She tried once this morning and he peed all over her, tore off into the garden, and she hasn’t seen him since. So we shall see. I have already named him – Radar (thanks Sled!) – which of course is a dangerous thing to do. But I am okay with the trial basis thing since I’m not really sure about having a third cat, even though I used to have three before and that was fine. Stay tuned…

I can see he’s already selected his preferred defense system.

Well, and Pilar never did find him again today. And she can’t come over tomorrow so now it’ll have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday. Patience…

Ah, yes… Amber has peed on me, the walls, the floor, the carrier… several tiomes while trying to get him into the cage for trips to the vet.
Benjamin, on the other hand, no matter how he hates being at the vet, seems ever trusting that THIS time we are off on an actual adventure when he gets in the carrier. He climbs in if he just THINKS I am going to take the cage out. He has even butted Amber out of the way when I am trying to get him to the vet and is mighty disappointed when I force him out and take Amber, instead.

Sunny has peed in the carrier too, and other times he trustingly climbed inside. Uh oh, feel like crying now. Sometimes when I think of him it’s like I can almost touch him, you know? And then comes the pain of missing him.

Hear you. I can still feel Apricat’s weight when I used to pick him up.

Has he been watching ‘The Book of Eli’ by any chance?

Hey, the little fella’s obviously out celebrating last nights win.
Like the rest of Spain he’ll show up sometime today with a massive hangover and no real interest in doing any work.

Just be thankful he hadn’t done worse in the carrier…
Our car still reeks from when we took my nephew’s cat, Ace, to the vet when he had an infection and fever. I have shampooed the seat, poured bottles of Fabreeze, car deodorant, and “pet smell neutralizers” on and down the seat and on a hot day, it smells as fresh as the day it happened. And he didn’t actually get any on the SEAT! It was all contained in the cage!

Hey, it’s Wednesday night here in BC…I will look out for a post tomorrow with an update because I am very curious to see how this goes (providing Pilar gets little Radar back!). As you know, it didn’t work out with my trial kitteh, but I hope it goes well for you guys!

No idea what’s going on. Pilar said she’d call me when she had time to drive into town – and when/if she could get Radar into the carrier. I’m starting to think this might not be such a good idea, especially as I already have my hands full with Loki (still have to shut him in the livingroom when I go out so he doesn’t throttle Azar). Well, we’ll see…
