So remember how I moved house and was told – hey no problem – that my internet and tv service would be transferred in less than two weeks? Yeah right. It took almost four weeks, and even after that the “technico” had to come back a couple of times to sort out the television service.
Meanwhile, I have been on the market to upgrade my lovely iPhone to the latest model… which I almost got to do last Christmas except Movistar fucked that one up, as their “offer” closed before there was any stock available in their stores. And so I was happy to find that in my friendly neighbourhood Vodafone shop they took down my name on a waiting list and called me just a few days later to say they had an iPhone4 for me, all I needed to do was stop by and sign the papers to transfer my custom over to Vodafone.
And now comes the icky part…
Those slimeball sweet-talking salespeople at Movistar called me up as soon as they knew I was planning to jump ship, and the guy on the phone offered me an amazing deal, even better than the Vodafone one, so what was I to do? I asked him point blank if I would get my phone on the same day promised by Vodafone, which was February 18th, and I was told that – YES – I could pick up my new iPhone4 at any Movistar store in Seville that day, after receiving the code number for my transaction. So okay, I then decided to stick with Movistar. What a stupid fucking mistake that was.
Oh yes, I received my code number to pick up my new iPhone4 on February 18th, but guess what? There was no stock, and hadn’t been for ages, and nobody could say when there would be… though curiously Movistar had new iPhones reserved for new clients switching from other companies. But not for their own clients. How fucked up is that?
I am so fed up with this company, which I have been with for over 15 years now. Because, frankly, until this move I’d never had any problems with them. They always delivered the goods at a competative price, and I was satisfied. What really irks is that now that I am NOT satisfied, they are doing absolutely nothing about it. I had to wait almost a month to get my service transferred to my new home, which was ridiculous and cost me untold hours on the phone with them, trying to get what I was paying for. And I am sure my next phone bill is not going to be adjusted to take into account the downtime in service, and I’ll have to waste more time fighting with the robotic and useless “help” staff they have…
What is it going to take for them to keep their word??

Oh and iPhone 4 doesn’t work as well as iPhone 3GS…

All phone companies are the same, so you have to play with them and not let them play with you. I´m also ordering an iphone 4, but yes, it´s out of stock everywhere, so I called them directly (movistar) to cancel my line with them if they´re not sending me the new iphone. It´s better than going to a shop…

I have been “reasonably” lucky with my phone/Internet/TV service with Bell. I have had a few glitches but I have never been lied to by them… Whereas, I have been lied to several times by representatives of the cable monopoly, Rogers. As a result, I will not deal with them EVER again, even when my satellite service has been down due to weather (which, oddly, it has not been ONCE this winter, whereas it was down every time a snowflake appeared in the sky at the old house which is weird since where I am forced to out the dish at this house is absolutely the worst place for “iffy” reception).
Last summer, when I got my bill, I noticed that I was being charged on my internet bill for a music download service that I didn’t want and never used, called and discovered that I had been being charged for two years for this service, even though I thought that I had opted out… I called and was refunded two years of service immediately. It was my oversight for not noticing that they had been billing me or I would have called them two years ago. However, they acted immediately to refund the money and I was happy.
I got my new channel line-up within a day, I had a service guy at my house two days later to install the HD box, lines, and receptor… and was happily watching The Aquarium Channel in HD two hours later. Yes…. the phone company is screwing me on my internet service, but so is Rogers… at least I am not being screwed AND lied to.

What is that obscenely shaped green and yellow object in their logo? That says a lot.

It’s been acting up for the past couple of months. The screen is sometimes unresponsive and it’s frozen on a few occasions – scaring the heck out of me – plus I have some screen damage along one side. I think I’ve had my money’s worth after more than two years of solid daily use and, as I really do need one for my various jobs, I’d like to replace it before it conks out for good.
With the original Vodafone offer I would have got it at a very good price and with a great service package. I should have known that when Movistar called with their “fabulous counter offer” that it was all bullshit. Live and learn…

Thank your lucky starts they are so incompetent. The iPhone 4, which is a load of moldy tapas, will be replaced by the iPhone 5 in June, and will at least be comparable with the latest Android smartphones. http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/116907/20110228/apple-iphone-5.htm

I wonder if my old one will hold out that long…

Buy a 10 euro cheap n’ cheerful one to tide you over…(they usually work without having to position your hand just-so to get a signal, unlike the iPhone 4).

Oh, I have another phone I can use, but I really need a smartphone. I use it all the time when I’m out, especially on tapas tours.
Or perhaps I’ll get an iPad 2 instead… coming out this month…
