There’s an expression in Spanish – como un niño con zapatos nuevos – which is used when someone is excited about a new purchase or gift. In this case it’s doubly accurate as I am very pleased at having found a pair of zapatos nuevos that 1) fit and 2) are rather cute. So I am finally able to put my 7-year-old red Campers out to pasture.
Of course I found these while looking for new sandals as my old Mephistos seriously bit the bullet last summer and are no longer wearable. But I reckoned that if I didn’t get these now, next autumn – like last autumn – I may not find any suitable shoes.
Meanwhile, it was definitely sandal weather this past weekend and though it’s cooler again this week I’m sure it’ll soon be too warm to wear my new shoes, so new sandals must be found as soon as possible. Life ain’t easy when you have triple EEE feet.
The look really comfy!

And purple! I usually prefer red shoes, but thought I’d give these ones a go. And with that red bit at the back of the heel (looks pink in this photo, but it’s actually red) and the little green logo tab, that’s all my accent colours covered.

Splendiferous.
My late and ex used to croon “new sshoes..” whenever I got a pair. In my case, ugly running shoes (they get the job done). I still say it, ritually, when I buy new ones.
Yours are spiff and like unto the clogs I wanted to buy but none were made to fit my 9.5 double-wides (we’re close there).

I was co chuffed with the look of them that I ran out and bought a pair, today! Mine are more red, with a purple bit at the heel. I was tempted by the mauve pair or event the turquoise but I love the red colour. The guy measured my feet and said I should try on the 36 (whatever size that is), I ended up two sized larger in a 40. They are probably the most comfy pair of shoes I have ever tried on!

Awww… red ones would have been perfect! But they didn’t have that colour option.

You know I did think of you when I bought these. How could I not? 🙂
I reckon after seven years with my red Campers it’s time for a colour change.

The thing about “el Naturalista” shoes is that their idea of “Unisex” is kind of weird. The only “Unisex” line is “el viajero” which includes my shoes but 2/3 of the line are pink ballet-like shoes…
In the “Men’s” they have “Campos” which are what I would consider a unisex 50’s-style sneaker and a slip-on loafer, again Unisex! They also have the “Arrecife” which is definitely “girlie”!
The women’s line (“Models specially designed for women looking for elegance and beauty in simplicity”) are, by and large hideous! And some of the designs which they call “serene beauty”, I would refer to as “Clown-like” (“Angkor”). “Tesla” includes two clunky Flamenco-style shoes and two indescribably ugly shoes, one of which has a boot-top over the Flamenco-style shoe. “Recylcus Ella” is a pretty little shoe welded to a huge layered waffled rubber sole which begs the question “WHY!?”.
I LOVE this bag http://www.elnaturalista.com/index.php/en/collection/spring-summer-2011/bolsos?force=11579
