It’s always a drag running out of perfume before Christmas. Not because I expect it as a gift but because I prefer buying the gift boxes that come with a couple of extras and are actually cheaper than just buying a bottle of perfume. And I can usually only find these around Christmas time (though I think they may also do some for Valentine’s and Mother’s day).
Well, I ran out of my Clinique Elixir a couple of weeks ago. In previous years I have waited it out until Christmas, making sure I spritzed up at the Corte Inglés perfume counter while walking by. But this year I was sure that there must be a left-over gift box hanging around somewhere in Sevilla, so while out and about I’ve been stopping in at every place that carries perfumes and finally found this last night. One lonely gift box on the shelf with body lotion and travel spray “extras”, all in a cute toiletry bag (perfect for those monthly trips I’ll be making to Málaga). So there. Perserverence paid off.
And I now smell fabby again. I get asked a lot what my perfume is – I think it really suits me.
I think perfume is a highly personal part of our identity. I was not a big fan before coming to France but I have to admit that I have since treated myself to a nice perfume that I keep for special occasions. And it has certainly bolstered my confidence for things like presentations and interviews.

I agree with the personal identity thing. I use mine every day (it’s not a super expensive perfume) and when I don’t have it I feel kind of naked.
I used to worry I used too much when people kept commenting on it, but turns out it’s more of a hint of a fragrance that they notice and find intriguing. Guess that means it’s working! 🙂
