Seriously, this is my new motto…
Fear me, if you dare! 🙂
Good ol’ Puss in Boots. He was the best thing in the Shrek films and this was the best line ever. Especially because it doesn’t even make sense.
And I swear this is the best role Antonio Banderas has ever played. Even though the film gets kind of floppy after about 45 minutes, it’s still great fun.
What’s the best just-for-fun film you’ve watched lately?
Funnily enough, I nearly took my son to see this a few weeks ago, on his first-ever cinema outing. We went for the Muppet movie in the end, which I loved (great set-piece dance numbers), but he got a bit bored. Will go for this one next time!

Saw Up a few weeks ago – Doug’s (a dog if you haven’t seen the film) joke about squirrels was about the high point for me.

Certainly was – I’m going to interested to see any other responses, as I’ve got a bit of time on my hands over the next few weeks and am likely to be desperate to find things to fill it!

“Fear me, if you dare” is completely nonsensical. It makes absolutely no sense.

Fear me if you dare means that the person he’s saying that to should be careful not to underestimate him, that he shouldn’t be taken lightly. Of course it would make no sense just on the surface, just looking at the words by themselves, it’s a bit of a poetic statement that requires deeper thought. Hope this helps!

Uh, no it doesn’t. He uses an imperative (fear me) and then follows up with a conditional clause (if you dare). So, to paraphrase and change order, he’s saying “dare to fear me”, which makes no sense. Let’s substitute synonyms and see if it works: “Risk being afraid of me”. Nope, still nonsensical. It’s hogwash, let’s not get too deep into this. He considers himself the cat’s meow and he’s quite brave and fierce but he’s none too bright.
