That could get expensive, 3G connection isn’t exactly cheap. My husband had a smart phone for a while which amassed costs of €60 in two weeks – until he noticed that it kept connecting itself to the internet, which is when he cancelled the contract.

It would probably piggyback off my iPhone 3G, like my iPad does (when not using wifi). So it wouldn’t actually cost more.
Peter had that same problem when he first got his smartphone. They didn’t tell him at the store that the default setting was to “always connect” and he isn’t on a 3G contract, so he ended up paying 100€ for nothing before he found out and disconnected that particular feature.
