What a little heart stealer. And I do mean little. I haven’t had such a tiny kitten since Sunny and his siblings were born and even then, at almost 8 weeks old, they were all much bigger than this girl. Here are some shots of her interacting with the incumbents. Reaction has been mixed. I’m actually surprised that Loki didn’t take to Smudge right away but, while he is intrigued by this squeaky munchkin tearing around the place, the big girl’s blouse is a bit afraid of her too. Luna is acting much as I expected. She is less hissy-spitty around Smudge than she was earlier in the week and instead just walks up now, gives her a whallop, then walks away again. Smudge is unperturbed by all this and just carries on with serious kittening. She’ll win them over eventually but until then she stays in my room when I go out.
Meanwhile, she loves nothing better than to be with the Big Cat. She sits on my shoulder while I’m at the computer and likes to curl up for her morning nap on the desk (I’ve now put down a small towel there so she has something soft to lie on). She also loves getting cosy on my lap when I’m watching TV and snuggles up on the pillow at night. But she also gets absolutely everywhere. The other night I spent a frantic half hour looking all over the house for her and finally found her asleep in my purse (!!). Once she figures out the stairs I’ll have to kitten-proof them somehow. Plastic mesh has been put back up on the balconies so she won’t accidently fall off, though she already shows signs of becoming a climber like Luna.
Yep, I’m in love. And although I love all my cats, this one feels extra special. Makes me hope more than ever that I’ve got another fifteen years or so left so I can spend them with her.
Presumably that bottom right pic is of her asleep in your purse – how unbearably cute is that? Glad she’s settling in so well.
