
This week’s Friday Foto Finder challenge is “transport”…
In the Axarquía, a mountainous region famous for its vineyards just east of Málaga city, the grapes grow in slate on 60º slopes. The harvest is very labour intensive and the only means of transport to get the grapes up to the main roads are mules that are used to collect the boxes of grapes hand-picked by the local workers, usually families who have been doing this same back-breaking work for generations.

Wow. As a muscle woman, I respect people who really have to use their muscles to make a living (well, I do, but a hell of a lot more comfortably than this). Incidentally, I include the mules in the category of “people.” I bet they could tell some stories, if we know how to understand them…
