So yeah, I know I’ve been complaining about how HOT it is here, and how we can only somewhat cool down the living room in this house. Then yesterday, on the longest – and also hottest – day of of the year, the gas water heater conked out. And while you might think it’s quite nice to take a cool shower after coming in from a power walk (and it is) it’s another thing not to be able to take a proper shower in the morning with at least warm water. Not to mention we’re now boiling water to do the washing up. And still no word on when this will be repaired…

I swear, I would be thinking of bombing out of there at the first opportunity to live in a better place, contract or no contract, and point out the lack of adequate cooling and utility repairs, which is kind of breach of contract at their end, and tell them to whistle for it.

Yes, they are certainly not keeping up their end of things. The repair guy just came and told me the heater is more than 20 years old and irreparable. Said they don’t even make that type anymore. He also said that BY LAW it is not my responsibility to replace a gas water heater, so hopefully it will be replaced in the next couple of days.
