While still on the lookout for a recommended place in Sevilla to get a professional pedicure I came across this baby on sale (30% off!) so I decided what the heck. Tried it last night and, although still a ways to go before my heels are “velvet smooth” (you’re not supposed to sand off too much at one time), it does seem to be doing the job. Anyone else have one of these?
I only ever used the flat paddles with abrasive surfaces. One little known dodge is salicylate ointment. It’s sold in the US as Blue Star, no idea if you can get it in Spain but it’s prepared as a thick goo somewhere between Vaseline and lanolin and less nasty than either. it’s sold as a fungus remedy and the salicylate is listed as an “inactive ingredient,” but it literally breaks down the dried callus and scaly skin on heels, elbows, knees etc. Something to put on before bed and then socks to keep it there. Somewhere in the farmacia you might find it, in with things like athletes foot creams or topical antibiotics. At least that’s where it turns up here.
