Honestly, if not for masks still being required on ALL public transport I would be so fucked. As it is, I will keep wearing a mask when I go out, and inside all shops and restaurants. You have to wonder about the timing… I mean, immediately after Semana Santa when thousands upon thousands of maskless people were crammed together for an entire week. And then we have Feria coming up in two weeks, when thousands of maskless people will be crammed into small tents for another week. Wouldn’t it have made more sense to at least wait 2-3 weeks after Semana Santa for the case results to come in? Oh right, not testing any more. And no more mention of Covid anywhere in the media. Fuck.

I suppose you saw the shitshow here in the States yesterday? Trump judge voided the national mask mandate for transportation, air crews were announcing it and ripping off masks IN MID FLIGHT with not a care for who was in the plane – like an unvaccinated toddler or an organ transplant patient or someone with RA taking immunosuppressants. Fucking manslaughter. I’m supposed to do the “Medicare Wellness visit” next week and now I don’t even feel safe at the doctor’s office, because this coincides with a sharp uptick in cases here that’s worst in my immediate area, and the shit should start to hit the fan right about that time and people who do still mask even in medical offices are just wearing crap surgical masks which don’t get the job done. (My dentist’s receptionist chirpily said that masks were now “optional” for patients and I said “great, you won’t be seeing me soon.”) Not looking forward to setting up a reschedule, but I need to see what happens — like will they make masks optional on the bus and subway? — and what people do about it once this creates another surge. And I’m still holding out for the more advanced vaccines that are supposed to be in approval. Apparently everyone’s moved on though.
