Just when you thought things couldn’t get any tackier around here here is the Plaza Virgen de Los Reyes, next to the Cathedral and Archbishop’s palace, all decked out for a PRIVATE event, looking like a cheesy wedding venue, complete with catering and portable chandaliers. Wtf?

For the record…
On Thursday, a dinner was held in the Plaza Virgen de los Reyes. The 20th-anniversary celebration of the society magazine Escaparate produced unique images that spread across screens at retweet speed: dozens of white tables, a catering setup complete with deep fryers and refrigerators, coloured spotlights projected onto the ancient Cathedral, a bugle band, and hundreds of guests from the worlds of nobility, business, sports, and politics—led by the mayor and the president of the Regional Government.

In Seville, the 2007 ordinance regulating the use of public spaces in the Historic Center for ephemeral activities and events states in Article 11.1 that “the occupation of the Plaza Virgen de los Reyes and Plaza del Triunfo is prohibited.”
