We can only hope you’ve picked up this much information by accident. Stop reading weekly magazines and go and watch The Wire instead.
I totally agree. In fact, I am in the middle of The Wire series 5 on dvd – it’s fabulous! (thanks again Dan ๐ )
Thing is, until about two weeks ago I had seen maybe one or two of these programmes in my life, when I first got the ‘original version’ adsl tv service a year and a half ago. Then after I got home from the hospital I found out that it comes on here at 9.30 every morning (just after brekky and blogging), and as that is a perfect time for me to hit the armchair and put my feet up for an hour – and this really is the most inoffensive thing on at this time – I started watching it. Apparently last week I saw the end of the last series and now they seem to be starting over from the beginning.
It actually isn’t horrible and, although I wouldn’t watch it under ‘normal’ circumstances, I can see why it became so popular – it’s kind of like a somewhat more grown-up version of Friends. One thing I haven’t been able to figure out is whether the way they dress the scrawny bow-legged main character (Carrie) is supposed to be some sort of joke on the fashion industry. She always looks like her closet has just vomited all over her. And you’d think they’d be able to do something with her hair …
Anyhow, I hope you all score much worse than I did – at least I have an excuse! ๐
