Got any favourite photos you’d like to share?

I come across so many wonderful photos whilst wandering around the blogosphere that I thought it would be a nice idea to create a photo gallery for some of our favourite ones.

I’ve started the album off with a few photos to get it going – you can find it here … mosaic

People who would like to contribute to the project can email me with their photo(s) and description(s) and I will upload them to the gallery. If you want to link back to either another photo site or blog just send me that information and I’ll add the link under the description. Also, check out the tags feature next to each photo and let me know if you would like a tag link included.

The photos don’t have to be your own, but of course I can’t post them if they are copyright protected. A description of the photo, bit of history, would also be nice and can be copied and pasted under the photo title.

If this takes off I’ll look into getting it more organised – perhaps in alphabetical order of contributor’s names? Anyhow, any and all suggestions are quite welcome. I just thought this would be a fun thing to do and so let me know what you think. 🙂

Over here.

When I uploaded the tapita photos last night I realised that my Sevilla photo album (at over 300 photos) was getting a bit unwieldy. I mean, when I come across a photo album that size I usually don’t bother. So I’ve started a new Sevilla folder on Fotki with seven different albums (so far) so it will easier for people to choose what they want to look at.

Of course this means that all the URLs have changed so none of the old links will work. I think I’ve caught most of them on my blogs, but just in case I’ve missed any you can always find the folder here. Let me know what you think of the new setup. 🙂

sunday walk in triana

sun.JPG It was fantastic!

And we almost didn’t go! But then after having coffee in bed we decided to go out for brekky at our favourite breakfast bar and our plan was to go for a walk along the river. But we ran into our friend José Miguel there and he mentioned the Rastro (Sunday market) and so we decided to go there instead.

I’d never been to that particular Rastro before but was not surprised to see that it was just as pathetic and junky as all the other ones I’ve been to here. We weren’t exactly sure of its location so ended up going the long way round, crossing fields and passing under bridges … but we got there eventually. Came across a gypsy camp under one of the bridges and I really wanted to take some photos but we decided that a) it would be intrusive and b) we didn’t want to ‘lose’ our camera.

What a shame because it was just like a scene out of a film with the tents and the campfire going, women in long skirts, kids everywhere. But later on we came across a group of gypsy women just outside the Rastro and I got a photo of them. Also took a couple of the Rastro just to show how totally cheesy it was. On the way back we decided to stop at the ‘abba hotel’ (yes, that’s its name) because we wanted to check out its rooftop terrace and have a cold beer there. But although the terrace and sundeck was open the bar wasn’t, so we made our way through Triana until we found a nice place on the riverbank that served the frostiest ice-cold beer ever – well worth the wait.

By then (about 1.30pm) we were getting peckish so we stopped for a couple of tapas at one of my favourite places in Triana, called La Primera del Puente. Nog had never been there before (though I believe Teuchter and Mr T found their way there one day during their visit last spring) and he loved it.

And now we are home again, feeling very ‘happy tired’ after having been out for about four hours, most of that time walking. It was a splendid morning with clear blue sunny skies and a perfect temperature for walking (and sitting outside drinking cold beer).

You can see for yourself 🙂

What’s the best way to store old photos?

For years I’ve had two big scary boxes of old photos stuck at the back of a closet and I have finally decided to organize them all this weekend. The plan is to take them all out of their various envelopes and put them in about half a dozen shoe-boxes (or something shoe-box size) in different categories. But I’m not sure if the boxes should be plastic and airtight (rather than cardboard) or if the photos should be stored upright like file cards (rather than flat).

Help? 😕

new webcam!

webcam.jpgWe bought a webcam today!

And it’s exactly the one in the pic, so I think we should be able to use it on both the PC and the laptop (if we ever see the ol’ laptop again… 😕 ). It also came with an earpiece microphone thingy – the type that dangles down from one ear and which apparently works just fine as I checked it out with Mudhooks this afternoon.

Anyhow, have never had a webcam before. Mostly because I quite enjoy being able to sit in front of the computer communicating with people without having to be properly dressed or worry about what my hair! looks like.

But the other day we were chatting with zoomer and he had his webcam going to show us his new condo and it was rather cool. We were just chatting on IM and it was nice to see him laugh when he received my messages (he has the most beautiful smile). And so Nog and I thought we’d get one too.

When I tested it out with Mudhooks on Skype today we had both visual and audio going and it was quite neat (she has a lovely smile too!). But I don’t think I’ll ever be going visual first thing in the morning, if you know what I mean . . .

I realise we are probably way behind the times as everyone seems to have webcams these days. I’m not sure why I never got one before – I think I always thought they were more expensive than they actually are. This one only cost 20€ (well, with the headset it was an extra 10€). A reasonable price for a new computer toy.

So does everyone else out there have a webcam? Do you use it a lot? Apparently I can send photos and videos to people with this one and I’m thinking it might be nice to send a video message to friends and family members, like at Christmas or on their birthdays, stuff like that. f_smiley.gif
