Today’s Photohunt theme is “closed”.

This gorgeous old Sevilla landmark – the Alfonso XIII Hotel – is going to be closed for a year while they do extensive renovations. It’ll be strange to see it all shut up and covered in scaffolding, but it’s actually in need of a make-over and I’m already looking forward to seeing what changes they are going to make.

marketing, social media

My first real new part-time freelance job since starting off this season as a social media manager … got the phone call yesterday afternoon. And I did that whole jumping up and down thing. It really was very exciting.

I’ve actually had three meetings this past week with tapas bars/restaurants that I feel could use my services, and I showed up with everything set up and with my presentation totally organised and – I hope – interesting. Made me realise more than ever that I’ve got to get myself an iPad…

But otherwise and that, I have a new job! And the great thing is that this job didn’t actually exist until I created it, packaged it up in an interesting way, and then went out and convinced a few people they really needed and wanted this, and that I was the best person to set it up and maintain it for them. This is a really big step for me. I mean, sure, it’s just part-time, but with a few more of these I could maybe end up being something resembling full-time.. maybe.

a hospital kinda week…

So yeah okay, it was only two visits. But that was only because Nog took back the Holter for me last Thursday morning. And added on to last week’s oncology visit – and having to wear that darned Holter for 24 hours – it was enough to feel like too much hospital for me. Anyhow, a few images from my hospital visits. The electrode thingys for the Holter, my most favourite and adorable chemo nurse Wenceslao in his cute yellow crocs (taken when I went to get my chemo port flushed out on Friday), and oddly light-wrapped palm trees outside the hospital. I don’t get this whole *blue* Christmas light thang, but as I was on my way out to find a taxi home they made me smile.

Plan to take a whole month off from the hospital now!

feet, gel socks

Look! More gifts from abroad! This time from the marvelous Madam Teuchter, who met up with me when I was in London and we spent a lovely afternoon going for lunch, then walking around Covent Garden and Neal’s Yard before heading out to Kensington for a fabulous treat she had in store for us… getting our feet nibbled on by tiny fish! Well, I’m afraid that in my case those fish had their work cut out for them, and it didn’t help when I broke a glass shelf and sent them all scurrying to the bottom of the tank. They were so stressed that I had to be moved to another tank…

Anyhoo, Teuchter had also mentioned these gel socks to me and suggested I pick some up at Boots before I left (of course I forgot) and then yesterday I found a package in the post which included the socks, some heel balm and that very lovely card. Made my day!

So of course I put on the socks straight away after my post-gym shower, first slathering my heels and balls of my feet with the balm (the skin is totally shredded – those fish never stood a chance) and even wore the socks to bed. It says that after 7 days my feet will be all smooth and soft again … will let you know. That’s the down side of wearing sandals eight months out of the year, but now that I have this secret weapon I should be able to get through sandal season without having my feet turn all hard and crusty – and often cracked and bleeding and painful. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving!

Thanks, Teuchter! f_smooch.gif
