We Love Tapas has been up and running again since June, with my new WLT manager José Andrés. We’ve also been working on some new tour options, and this is one that I think is going to be quite fun.
Sevilla is a magical city and with our local expert José Andrés you will experience it all – culture, history, and local lifestyle, while tasting some of Sevilla’s best tapas and drinks. José is ready to make sure you will have an unforgettable time in Andalucía’s colourful capital city. But here’s the thing… if you sign up for our Magical Mystery Tapas Tour you never know where you’ll end up, but we guarantee it will be delicious. Perhaps you’ll take a stroll through the old town, or a trek around lesser known barrios; you may find yourself getting on a bus or the metro to discover further flung neighbourhoods and their unique tapas bars.
I’m thinking though… since until next spring (at least!) we are only offering private tours to vaccinated people travelling in their “bubbles”, maybe it should be a flat rate tour fee and then clients pay for the food and drink as they go. So then there’s no budget to stick to, no limits. What do you think?

When I got my new birthday iPhone 12 in January it came with a free year of AppleTV… and so well okay, why not? Turns out there is some pretty good stuff on that platform, but I already subscribe to Netflix, and Amazon Prime comes with that account, that’s really enough to be paying for. Meanwhile, this week I’ve been watching this Apple documentary series that is absolutely mindblowing. Not just for the music – though I was amazed at just how much of my teenage soundtrack came from this one year. I was 14 at the time, and music was everything to me. So watching this doc has been quite the nostalgic trip down a musical memory lane. But then there is everything else that was going on back then that, as a 14 year old, I was pretty much clueless about. Well, okay other than some random knowledge about the Vietnam War, the Black Panthers… global politics was not something a young girl stranded in fucking Thompson Manitoba was overly concerned about.
Anyhow, this doc has been taking me ALL OVER THE PLACE and I’m not even done yet. If you have a chance to see it, I heartily recommend that you do. Even though it’s a bit heartbreaking to see just how little has changed.

September has always felt like the “new year” to me, much more than the first of January, with its post summer holiday back-to-school feeling of everything starting over again. But this year, not so much. Of course this is in part due to Covid, but even last September felt more… hopeful?… with several tapas bars reopening after an extra long lockdown. It felt like things were getting better and people were still more or less pulling together. But I have to say that in these past twelve months I have been feeling more and more discouraged. Not so much by Covid, which is still proving to be a serious daily issue, but because people have been showing themselves to be… well, themselves. I do cling to the hope that there are still good people out there, simply because I know a few myself and so there must be more, but there are days when I truly despair.

Since I already splashed out on new towels this summer I was going to try and hold out until the January sales for new sheets, until I realised that’s what I said last summer, and also this past January. Anyhow, I reckon every five years is a reasonable amount of time between purchases, especially as my present sheets have no more elastic left and are a bit tattered thanks to cats. I don’t know why I always feel I have to justify these things but, especially now, having been out of work for the past eighteen months, it seems almost frivolous. Though sleeping in sad worn out sheets (or drying off after a shower with thin hard towels) also takes a toll of sorts, so what the heck. Got new sheets today!
