Who’da thunk that this scrawny little thing would turn into such a beauty? The pic on top was from a poster I saw in the street one day saying this tiny kitten needed a home. Luna’s age is approximate of course. At first I thought she was only about 6 weeks old when I took her home (September 2011) but the vet said she was more like 3-4 months, just small from being malnourished and living in the street.

How is it possible? My little girl is 7 years old! I realised when I placed the last cat food order that I no longer have to get “young adult” food for her, she can join the other two and eat their “mature adult” bics. OMG. Of course she is still very kittenish and weighs nothing at all, prances around like she is on strings. But yeah, she is getting older.
And of course Morcilla shares a birthday with my beloved Azar – they were born exactly 18 years apart. How weird is that?

Since this is officially Birthday Week I was delighted to find out that Lucy @sparkybakewell has her birthday the day after mine. So she met up with me at VermuterĂa Yo Soy Tu Padre, where I had gone to introduce Charlie & Sam @vinoveroleigh to my darling boy Esteban. Then Lucy and I headed out for her birthday lunch at La Chalá. I was told they had some new stuff on the menu and it was all very good. Of course I told everyone it was OUR BIRTHDAY so they brought us some complementary cava. And of course we also stopped for a penĂşltima cava on the way home… nice day!

My big beautiful Sunny was born 27 years ago today. He was born into my hands in Salamanca and died in my arms 16 years and three months later in Sevilla. I still miss him, his brilliant blue eyes and adorable white toes, his gentle nature. He was so full of love, and became a protective big brother to Azar when I brought that tiny and terrified street kitten home. This is a very badly patched together video I made the day Sunny died, just to keep myself busy and focused on my beautiful boy. Lots of the photos were such awful pre-digital quality. Great song though. And one of the best boys ever.

Wow, six years old! In another year Morcilla will be eating “mature” cat food along with the other two. Though she is still so kittenish in both appearance and demeanour. For those who don’t know, Morcilla shares a birthday with my beloved Azar – they were born exactly 18 years apart.
But today is her day… happy birthday darling girl!
