Yikes! Temps here climbed almost 10º over the weekend, about 15º more than they usually are this time of year. So it was weird to be packing tights, shoes and jackets for London after having worn summer clothes for the past few weeks. Weather looking good for London though, with (so far) just one rainy day next week, on Saturday. See you there soon!

Got my invitation in the mail, so now it’s official. Two weeks today I’ll be at this do at the Spanish Embassy in London. Both nervous and excited now… nervous just because I always get nervous before I travel (yes, even two weeks ahead of time). But as Peter is coming to stay for the week to look after the cats that’s one less thing to worry about. Also glad the dress code for this thing is “smart casual”, so I don’t have to pack a fancy dress and shoes. Lots of stuff planned already with friends, so it should be a fun week. Eek.

So right in the middle of making plans for my upcoming trip to London, up pops this photo in my Instagram Memories… taken exactly two years ago in London! I remember this day very fondly. We met Nicola @shedlikesfood for an east end market tour which lasted most of the day. And coincidentally I will be staying at Nicola’s place in May. Getting excited!

When I go to London in May I will be staying in a new (for me) part of town – Clapton. At first glance it looked a bit further out than the “usual” place in Wapping, but in fact it is very accessible and I have three main bus routes that should take me pretty much everywhere I will want to go – including the event at the Spanish Embassy. And there is also a night bus that takes me straight home.
Because I was waylaid by panic attacks when I was there in 2015 I was already getting nervous about meeting friends, even though I’m not going until mid-May. But upon discovering these bus routes I feel much more reassured, and it means I shouldn’t have to take the tube (bonus!).

When I woke up this morning I had no idea that by the end of the day I would be making plans to go to London in May! I got an invitation to attend a special event in honour of my friend José Pizarro @jose_pizarro on May 14th at the Spanish Embassy in Belgravia, and it was just too good an offer to turn down. And as luck would have it my friend Nicola @shedlikesfood said I could stay at her place as she will be away that month, so hey! I tacked on a few extra days and will now have a week in London!
