I’ve mentioned this magnificent magnolia here before. It’s just in front of the Cathedral and has been a landmark for about 80 years. But just look at it now. Apparently it’s been in bad health for some time, but recently it’s looking particularly sad (I took this photo last week). They say it’s from all the construction that has gone on, putting in the tram line and pedestrianising the street. But today I saw that it seems like the city council is now taking steps to salvage this wonderful tree. At least I hope that’s what they’re doing and not just digging it up.
