This is the beginning of WEEK 13.
Cool, eh? It was quite hard at first, for both of us (Nog and I both quit smoking on the same day – November 5th). And we do still get occasional ‘jonesing’ moments. But the benefits are far outweighing the difficulties.
For example, what we didn’t spend on cigs for two months paid for our posh hotel in Barcelona. Also, we both feel so much better physically, mentally and emotionally.
I think Nog has had the harder battle as he was dealing with a 37-year-old habit. I didn’t start smoking until I was 36 (duh!) and so for me it was more about changing behaviour patterns than actually feeling addicted to nicotine. Still, we both went through quite a rough time at first and appreciate that we could never have done it alone.
You know what they say – misery loves company. π
But more than that it’s been the daily mutual support that has kept us going.
So . . . yay for us!
Hey, bloody well done. Because I can’t imagine ever being able to give up. I’ve tried repeatedly in the past, but can’t do it.
I like the the fact you gave up on Nov 5th, bonfire night here in the UK π

It didn’t occur to me at the time that it was bonfire night, but I did mention it to az recently.
And we’ve both given up lots of times too. Maybe it was just that the time was right this time.

Way to go! I’m really proud of you both.
I smoked for 19 years. I didn’t realize how much money I was spending on the things till I quit (March 2005). I’m not surprised it was enough to provide posh Barcelona accomodations. Wasn’t that much more satisfying than the cigs would’ve been?
Congratulations!

Yay, Team Sevilla! Woohoo! 8)
I’m so pleased you’ve done this! Smoking is really tough, as it’s a habit which is linked so closely with habit and mood — class one drugs are harder, but only by a little bit, I think!

Hmmm… have been backsliding a bit. Not a lot, just on rare occasion. A couple here and there.
Nog gave in ages ago, but now goes downstairs to smoke. Still, if I didn’t know there were cigs somewhere in the house I doubt I’d bother.
Anyhow, I can’t see myself going back to smoking again, but just felt a need to ‘confess my sins’.
