The Most Hated Family in America
They call themselves the most hated family in the US and they picket funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq. The Phelps family pickets mourners across the country, to mark what it describes as God’s revenge on the US for tolerating homosexuality.
Buncha self-righteous sick fucks thinking they are above everyone else because they have God’s ear? I know it’s not polite to spit in public but I really can’t help it when I read about such extreme religious lunatics as this bunch.
If they switched ‘homosexual’ to ‘black’ or ‘Jew’, how far do you think they’d be tolerated? 
And now they are planning to picket the funerals of the Virginia Tech massacre victims . . . unfuckingbelievable.

It’s not just one family: Fred Phelps and his loony godhatesfags website and Westboro Babtist Church may be slightly less-beloved than the Bushes.
But loonies hate to feel alone. He has supporters–enough to make him a presence on the national stage.
And that’s another reason to support hate speech laws. Legend has it that Phelch tried to cross the border into Our ‘Ome and Native Land and was turned back because the placards in his car constituted hate speech.
Or possibly because they weren’t in both official languages.
God may hate fags, but I think if he actually exists, he’s warming a special device in hell for Freddie and the gang.

There has been quite a response to this wee post of mine – pingbacks and incoming links. No comments except for yours, Metro. I guess the other attention was just a way of letting other fag haters know there was someone talking about them?
So it seems you are right that loonies hate to feel alone. Also that they are too cowardly to express their hateful views where they know they are not welcome.
Anyhow, if God hates fags then why did he create them?

Well, I believe that picketing the funerals of soldiers constitutes expressing their hateful views where they know they are not welcome. What I find interesting is that there is a sort of vigilante group of motorcyclists that attend the same funerals they are and keep them from annoying the mourners.
I have often wondered the same thing: why did God create homosexuality if he hates its practitioners? And don’t tell me it is unnatural or I will be forced to tell you the story of the Billy goat, Mel the young wether and our two pigs.

I don’t understand the fuzz some stupid a**h*l*s make about other persons sexual preferences. What happens voluntarily and in consent between two sober adults is rareley, if ever, of anyone else’s concern.
The only time in my life I sort of bothered was when I realised that a man I cared a lot about preferred male company at certain occasions. That was because I was, well, disappointed since I wanted to be his company, so to say. I got over that and we’ve been close friends for many years since.

My view isn’t so much that they *should* be killed, but that it wouldn’t be a terrible loss if something were to happen to them.
After a lifetime of getting abused by creatures like these, I really can’t see that treating them as they would treat me is anything I should speak against.

Sometimes it is almost enough to make one think that maybe freedom of speech wasn’t such a good idea. I do not understand why their version of “free speech” is not considered a hate crime.
They are no better nor worse that our own lovely Newt gingrich, who saw fit to read a Bible quote the day after the huge tsunami struck Indonesia. It was the one about the people who build their house upon the sand, and it was obvious that he was saying that the Indonesians got what they deserved because they weren’t Christians.
When people in power in government can get away with that sort of insensitivity, it only makes people like the Phelps “Family” feel like they are in the right. (No pun intended). There are no easy answers, but wishing them dead or harmed is really only playing their game from the opposite side of the board.

I’m seriously hoping that by even suggesting picketing the funerals of such a wide cross-section of the US public the Phelps “family” will have shot themselves in the foot and they will soon be stopped from publicly shooting off their foul mouths.

This is actually a wonderful example of purely circular reasoning. Why did God allow them to be killed? Because they weren’t Christians. How do you know they weren’t Christians? Because God allowed them to be killed.
