. . . and especially where I live it.
All afternoon this small acoustic musical group – about six guys – has been playing Cuban style music under my balcony (in fact they are at the bar across the street). A lot of the songs I recall from Buena Vista Social Club albums, along with other traditional tunes. So far it’s been about a three-hour free concert.
Fabulous background music for my lovely and lazy Sunday afternoon at home (this would never happen in Trawnna or Bristow) . . .

And yes, truce, having spontaneous stuff happen like the free all-afternoon Cuban music concert across the street is just one of the many things I love about Sevilla.

Unfortunately, the only ‘free concerts’ I get here, are the cars playing rap music at full blast, while they wait for the signal light downstairs to change…
The thing about the U.S. is that we’re short on ‘pedestrian only’ streets. There’s a few of them, but most places in the urban environment are devoted to cars. I envy you, bit time, az!

Oh, I get those car stereo ‘free concerts’ too – usually around 3am on a Saturday night. 🙄
It isn’t actually a pedestrian area near my house, but the side street I’m on (in front of that bar) mostly just gets taxis and delivery trucks, so the very few cars are usually residents – no ‘through traffic’ as such.
The new pedestrian ‘avenida’ is quite wonderful, though.

Speaking of the new Avenida, when will the trams be out and running? For that matter, how long a route do they take down the Avenida — it works well as a ploy in San Francisco, people love riding them, just for the touristy stuff. And they’re all shiny and future looking, as well. 🙂
