*groan*
This is what I use. I think it’s worth the money and the d*rn sore is gone in four-five days usually.
No kissing allowed as long as you have one!

Well, as I say, the thing that bugs me most about the Spanish version of that ad – which I’m seeing here on Fox every day – is that when the guy comes into the apartment the woman grabs him and kisses him! It’s just soooo bloody irresponsible that now Nog tells me to look away when the ad comes on as I tend to yell something rude at the tv screen.
Okay, I can see wanting to camouflage the thing, as they are pretty ugly to look at, but then to kiss someone! No, no and no again!
For the record, I’ve never had a ‘cold sore’ but I live in dread of contacting oral herpes from someone, because once you get it you’ve got it for life. I remember once going out for tapas with friends and one had a massive herpes on his mouth … he thought I was being ‘silly’ for asking him to spoon out the shared food onto his own plate rather than dig his fork into the communal dishes. Bleh.
I also know people who have got genital herpes from those who were totally irresponsible … didn’t think it was worth mentioning??? Grrrr…
So I guess this is why that ad gets to me so much … if you have a contagious virus and you can make the evidence of it ‘disappear’ in a minute, then how can others protect themselves?

Jim habitually mutes the TV when any commercial comes on because I tend to yell rude comments at the screen for all sorts of outrageous ads. So you are in very good company!
I contracted oral herpes when I was in college from an irresponsible person, and count myself incredibly fortunate that I also did not get genital herpes at the same time. I try never to get my immune system so stressed that I have an outbreak. But every once in a while. . .the little opportunistic virus pops up. One of the things other than stress that triggers it is too much sugar accompanied with too many artificial dyes. Can you spell jelly beans? Can’t do them.
As far as I know, I have never passed it on; Jim does not have it and we have been together for 22 years (today is our anniversary!).
Anyway, I have tried stuff and in my experience, the only thing that works is being patient for the week that I am going to have the painful lesion. When I am suffering, I would never even look askance at someone who asked me to not contaminate the communal food source. Why would I want to be so rude as to risk giving this nasty nuisance to someone else?
