Is there ever a good excuse? I rather don’t think so.
In keeping with this Freudian foot fetish thang I apparently have . . . recently on an h2g2 thread someone asked why socks and sandals were considered unstylish. And I decided the only possible rebuttal was to provide photo evidence. And here it is . . .
Warning: these images are not for the faint of heart
You’re right – it was pretty gruesome

I had to stop looking (but the asian guy with the lilac socks is priceless)

Yes, with those sandals six-year-olds usually wear.
About 3/4 of the way down the page there is a photo of David Beckham … I shudder to think people might consider socks & sandals somehow ‘cool’ as a result of that pic.

Well, I have to say that there IS a good excuse. When Jim and I were in Singapore I was forced to put socks on with my Birkenstocks. I even had to buy a pair. The humidity was so high the strap across the top of my foot gave me a horrible blister and the only way to make it stop was to put a pair of socks on to protect my poor foot. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Well, I grew up with socks and sandals, like most of my peers.
Li’l cute white socks with laces on Sundays even.
Guess that’s why I don’t get so upset. After all it’s just a pair of shoes.

So gloriously multifaceted is human sexuality that I’m sure that some people will even get the horn from socks and sandals.
