Mmmm . . . there’s nuthin like a plump new duvet.
Almost turns needing to use one into a desirable situation. I usually experience duvet denial this time of year, forgetting to take the thing to the cleaners in time and ending up suffering through a few chilly nights before I get it back. But the other day when Nog & I were out shopping we stopped in at Corte Inglรฉs to see if there were any good deals on duvets (ours was looking decidedly unplump). And as luck would have it there was a fab 25% off special offer happening, so we made our purchase and just two days later (last night) needed to use it.
And it’s great because it’s still not really cold and, for example, I can sit here typing this in bed with a hot mug of coffee on the night table and feel quite cosy and warm, covered in cats (they love it too) and mounds of lightweight pillowy softness. But next month needing the duvet will become a less pleasant, more needy, experience.
But why think about that now? Indeed, ‘carping the diem’ is becoming more and more frequent here at casa az.
Oh, and I had
and digestive biscuits for breakfast. ๐

I do like serendipitous purchases – and a new duvet feels wonderful to snuggle up beneath.
We treated ourselves to a mattress topper last year. It’s fab.

I’m glad to learn what you’ve eaten for breakfast, especially since I’ve exposed myself in that way already. (Damn, I just wrote “exposed myself.” That doesn’t quite sound like a breakfast-related statement. At least not the breakfasts that I eat.)
Also, I think I may need a new duvet. Ours is down, and seems to be shrinking each year as the poor little feathers get trampled and turned to dust. (I wonder if there is such a thing as “feather lung,” caused by the build up of dust created by down comforters?)

My duvet is very old and lacking in feathers. I so need to replace it, but don’t really want to spend the money right now. So, I’ll add another blanket as it gets colder and hopefully be able to afford one next year.

Well, you know that breakfast comment was just for you, alejna. ๐
My duvet is actually a cotton/polyester fluffy fibre mix … no feathers for me thanks. It’s expensive enough getting the local laundrette to wash and tumble dry the damn thing every November (my washing machine is too small and I don’t own a tumble drier) without having to worry about getting feathers properly cleaned and fluffed up again. Also, I’ll never have to worry about – gasp! – the dreaded “Feather Lung”. ๐ฏ

I’m not sure our comforter counts as a duvet, but I love it anyway. It is goose down, and very light. We got it on Ebay for what amounted to a song plus shipping. Very cool when you find a bargain when you need to buy something.

Here in Australia, duvets are called ‘Doonas’. I have no idea why, but there you go.
I would love a bunny or a cat to snuggle up on top of mine with me, but no luck with that so far, and even less luck with a nice smiley man to snuggle up under the duvet with! ๐ฆ
