Today is San Juan , a festival typically celebrated with roaring bonfires on the beach, food, drink and friends. It is also the saint’s day of anyone whose name is John or a variation thereof – which makes it my saint’s day too! Not that I’m religious, or even own up to Spanish people that my name translates as Juan (don’t want them to start calling me Juanita – gaaaa! ), but I’m basically into any excuse to celebrate.
In Spain saint days are considered to be as important, if not more important, than birthdays. Families and friends organise special meals and gifts are given to the, um, ‘saintee’. I’ve never gone that route myself, but I find I am really hoping for some good news from The Team on this San Juan day – that would be the best present ever.
My day as well then!
I’m hoping for the best for you.

Thanks Johnny, and a happy saint’s day to you too!
There are so many variations of Juan aren’t there?

Hmmm… I think you’re supposed to jump over a bonfire, daisy. But I’m sure you’ll get that sorted out during the course of the day. 🙂

I have my fingers crossed here.
I presume that the celebrations today will just run on from the national hangover from Sundays victory over the Italians?

I guessed it might be a bit like that!
It’s the one game of the Championships I’ve watched so far, wearing my lucky Sevilla shirt. Well, it’s lucky now, so I’ll be wearing it when Spain play Russia.

Sounds more like you’re doing it right, gnu kid. 🙂
It is a boring name, isn’t it, Archie? My version is nicer though.
I sure hope San Juan was listening, truce.
I finally spoke to one of The Team late last night and she said they’d be going through my results today with the surgeon and oncologist (well, not just my results but a bunch of them) which got me worried. Nog said he thought it was routine but I wondered if they only look at BAD RESULTS with the surgeon and oncologist. But maybe they do this with everyone since the nuclear medicine guys don’t actually prescribe treatment.
So I should know more later on today …

No, they review everyone’s. It’s good, because doctors are so competitive they’re all champing at the bit to point out something the rest overlooked. Makes it quite a thorough exam.
