I mean, is this some sort of game … or what ?
Right after I published that last post a couple of doctors came into my room and said, “Oh, hasn’t anyone told you yet?” Turns out they had an emergency liver transplant this morning and so today’s scheduled ops have been postponed until Thursday. Which means on Wednesday evening I’m going to go through this whole damn rigamarole again. Gaaaaa!
My main regret is that I know I’ll never find such a perfect roommate as María … and I’m sure she won’t be too happy to wake up with some TV-watching señora in the next bed. Anyhow, I left her a note and a link to my tapa blog, so maybe I’ll hear from her again.
Back home now enjoying some coffee & digestive biscuits.
Here are a couple of check-in evening photos…

Shit happens…
Guess you can always press sharp needles into portrait like dolls. Not that I believe in voodod, but semidestructive behaviour is often a good way to get rid of anger and bad feelings.

Well, I knew it was too good to be true. I was even feeling quite relaxed and positive about everything this morning.
I’m more frustrated than angry about this. Also, Nog will have to rearrange or cancel even more of his classes this week, which is really a drag.
And I won’t be able to use the USB internet thingy next week because it will be needed elsewhere. Bummer! 😦

Arg. How aggravating. Apparently they like to keep you guessing.
I love that picture of you. You look so beautiful, even in what is probably a hospital johnny. And you’ve got your blog there.

Boy, after all this, they’d better find a pony in there. This is quite ridiculous. But maybe it’s better to give it a few days from all the terror to do the surgery. Still thinking about you. And thanks for the pressie you left me in Scrabble. Just wish I had a Q and a Z to use in it.

Thinking of you. Sorry it didn’t work out today, this must be dreadful. (hug)

Oh how totally frustrating! You do look very sweet in the picture – I thought it was one of your own gowns – if it’s a hospital one it looks rather fetching!

GAAAA. Just…GAAAAA.
I don’t know what to say; practise makes perfect doesn’t cut it, you’ve had too much practise at this already!!!!
Shame about the wifi broadband modem — how much do they cost? Maybe The Friends of Az™ can plop down the dash for one, to get our fix? :evilgrins:
Beth is right, this too shall pass.

Every girl needs a pony!
Gaaaaa…. I just love the side of the medical profession that just assumes the patient is along for the ride on some magical mystery tour. Or worse…. assumes you are a mind-reader and then gets pissed off when you aren’t.
At least you had some eye-candy while you waited!

The photo of the “Operation Game” reminds me of the terrific painting my friend’s son did of my friend when she gave birth to her daughter. Dylan was in with her at the time, so this isn’t his imagination…. He was working from life.
In order to show his sister arriving, he left off Krys’ legs and because he hadn’t quite figured out how to do her face while lying down, he painted it straight on with a big smile.
The result, however, shows her like the “Push me Pull You” from Dr. Doolittle, wearing what appears to be a horrifying grimace at the both ends. It is hilarious, if a little nightmare-inducing.

Just checked in here to see if there was any news from Noggin …
Good that your room-mate got her op – and good that a person who needed a transplant got one – but not good that you have to wait until later in the week.

Argggggghhhh! How annoying!

Well, my op will be performed by the same team that does liver transplants … and you can’t get much better than that.
And I reckon I probably bumped a couple of people off their surgery schedule when I showed up for my emergency colon op in May.
Trying to be philosophical about it now. And I shall remember the wise words of my roommate María who said, “Last time I was here I simply told the other person to turn the volume on the TV right down because I was here to recover from surgery and I needed peace & quiet!”
I’m going to call her tomorrow to see how she’s doing.
“At least you had some eye-candy while you waited!”
Poor Pablito, being objectified like that! 😉 In fact, I set up a blog for him last night. Still in the baby first step stages but I think it’ll turn out well.

Well, here we are at the bottom of the rollercoaster again.
All I can say is, it’s a good thing you’re so resilient. I’d still be there at the hospital screaming at the top of my lungs.

The most frustrating thing is that the operation should have been over by now … and in an hour or two I would have been back in my room with the most perfect hospital roommate ever.
Bottom of the rollercoaster indeed, Beth.

If they find a pony, I’ll send over some hay. 🙂

Good grief. I tuned in hoping to find good news and instead I find philosophical and postponement news.
I like your very philosophical observation that when you had your emergency surgery you probably bumped someone. And I thought when I read about it that we should all be thankful that none of us are in the position of needing a transplant of any organ. Still, it is not fun being hung out on the line to dry, so to speak.
Now I’m wondering if I need to do another candle burning or just reinforce the one I already did. Hmmm.
Meanwhile, now that I’ve checked on you I guess I’ll go out and move mulch the way I told Jim I would.

Re: The eye-candy…. I was also referring to Nog, of course…
If it makes Pablo feel any better, he can be secure in the knowledge that he will have an attentive readership for his blog as a result.

arrrgghhhhh, how frustrating for you! Still, just think how good your karma will be after having made way for an emergency transplant op 🙂

Thanks guys … do I have to stand on my head for that too?
So, I just called my ex-roommate María and she was very pleased to hear from me. Her surgery went perfectly well and she’ll be going home tomorrow morning. And she said she’ll check out my tapa blog (I’d left her a note when I left and included the tapa blog address) and maybe even send me an email. I told her there was a photo of her up on this blog, and she thought that was cool.
I also told her that there is no way I am going to be as lucky in the ‘roommate lottery’ tomorrow as I was with her on Sunday, and she said the roommate she got after me was “typical” (nuff said). Ah well . . .

Un beso…
