I ask you … could he look any less interested?
A week ago today I was going on about how fabulously the new cat grass was growing and, once I was sure it had taken root properly, lowered it so that the boys could start feasting on what I’d been assured was something they would not only love but was also necessary for their health and digestive well-being. Well, huh. I even tried hand-feeding the grass to them. They took one sniff and were clearly thinking – hey, this ain’t asparagus!
So, I give up. I’ll keep watering the grass for now, but it’s looking like I’ll have to mow it soon. Goldarn ingrates …

do they need to eat it every day though? Maybe they just don’t need it now, but will be interested in a day or two…???

My cat prefers his grass on the lawn and won’t touch the stuff in the hose.

Well, the irony is that if I put one of my houseplants within reach of Azar it would be stripped of all its leaves in no time.
I think Azar is just being contrary. And Sunny is a bit of a follower. If he sees Azar eating something then he wants it too. Unless it’s tuna or sardines. Then suddenly Sunny is your best friend and starts giving you the beseeching blue eyes routine.
I should think getting grass out of a hose would be rather difficult, Mudhooks. š

Too late. By the time I got into the livingroom Azar was back to looking all nonchalant, so I’ll have to take Nog’s word for it. Or wait for proof, as in coming home from yoga to find grass puked up all over my bed.

One of our cats, Delia, loves that stuff. But then again, she’s the one cat who doesn’t get outdoor time.

“Yeesh… make up your mind! First you want us to eat it and then you get pissed off when we show you we HAVE been eating it…”

Grass barf! It’s what’s for… er… never mind.

Why doesn’t Delia go out, mister anchovy? I thought all your cats were indoor/outdoor.
So it turned out there was no grass barf, but I did come home from yoga to find Sunny leaking from his bottom, which called for a change of bed linen as well as a 125 euro trip to the vet. More on that tomorrow …
Off to see AgustĆn now for his weekly class. Will bring Sunny’s blood test results with me for a second opinion.

*lol* at cat grass
Over the years I’ve been a cat minion I’ve realised that plants Not for Eating often are of great interest to one or more of the Lair Cats.
Cat grass, however, are usually looked upon with great disgust and nobody will bother to eat it. Li’l kitty can sometimes accept the occasional straw if it’s picked and served by hand to her…

It has been a long time since I provided cat grass since there is a plethora of it right outside the door. The cat does eat it too.
When I lived in Alaska and there was not grass out there for over six months of the year, I provided cat grass and I had to keep a pot going out of reach and rotate it because it was so popular.
I think the “not looking interested” raised to the level of performance art hits the nail right on the head.
Hope Sunny is okay. Leaky bottoms are bad.

Roomie got the cat grass pot at the pet store a couple of weeks ago; cats ate some off the top, it started to go yellow (well, it would, since she placed it next to the cat dish and away from any light) — and when it hadn’t been any further nibbled than the first day or so, she tossed it. Huh.

Grrrr, everytime you mention your Roomie my blood pressure rises, SC. Thank goodness you’ll be rid of her soon.
I’ve noticed a few nibbled bits, and there was one stupendous grass puke up by Azar the other day (if I hadn’t been home he would have done it all over the bed!). Anyhow, the grass is very green and lush. Not sure how well it will survive while I’m away because I have to water it every day or else it starts drooping, but I’m going to put all the balcony plants on the shady side of the building and hope they don’t get too dried out.
I don’t think Sunny has tried the grass at all.
