caramelo

It was love at first sight. Or at first sound. Two nights ago Nog & I decided to stick close to home and try out the Mexican restaurant around the corner from our building. As soon as we sat down on the terrace I heard this little mieow-mieow-mieowing that sounded to me like a lost and very hungry kitten. Eventually the little guy came out from under the car he had been hiding under and started checking out what people on the restaurant terrace were eating. So of course I had to give him some of our enchiladas, and later the waiter also gave him some scraps from the kitchen. I immediately named him Caramel…

Then yesterday morning I saw him again when we left the apartment and I went into the supermarket across the street to get him some cat food. It was then that I noticed he has one blue and one amber eye and I fell in love with him even more. I swear, if this had happened in Sevilla that cat would have been scooped up, brought home, given a good bath and would now be living the life of Reilly. But I really can’t see how I’d be able to bring him home on the train. I’m not sure if they allow pets.

I know almost a year ago I said that although I was cautiously optimistic about getting healthy again, I still wasn’t about to go out and get a kitten. But this one has sort of happened to me and now I’m not sure what to do.

Cute, isn’t he?
