I’ll check mine – lately I’ve noticed that my blog comments seem to be disappearing into thin air. I didn’t even think about spam filters, but maybe that’s it!
Earlier I sent an email to WordPress Support and they got back to me very quickly, saying I should send all the details to Akismet.com/contact. Which I did. Am now waiting to see what happens next.
Speak of the devil. Just got the following reply from Akismet.
Sorry for the problem. I believe it is fixed now.
Please note that Akismet is not a blacklist. Your comments may not be published on some blogs if the owners of those blogs have indicated they believe them to be spam.
I seriously doubt that Sledpress, Archie, Silverstar and others had indicated that my comments on their blogs were spam. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow if I’m back in the land of the accepted again. Off to bed now…
Happening with your comments on other blogs, or with commenters on your blog?
All new WP blogs have a default “first time approval” for commenters. So, if you improve them the first time then their next comments will go through automatically. To change this just go to your profile settings and deactivate this option, and you won’t have to approve first comments if you don’t want to.
Dashboard –> Settings –> Discussion
Settings are found at the bottom of the Dashboard sidebar.
Anyhow, I was quite impressed by how quickly both WP Support and Akismet got back to me the other day. And whatever Akismet did seems to have fixed the problem.
Thanks. Yeah, I found those settings yesterday & switched them around. But it was still only you that got relegated to my spam folder, and since the blog is brand new, EVERYONE was a first time commenter at that point, and none of their comments went to my spam folder. Ah, well. Seems like all is good again.
Askimet has caught hundreds of spam comments from Viagra pushers in the last few days. A real storm going on.

Yike! One of your comments was in my spambox, sure enough.

I found one in my spam box. I just approved it. For now on, I’d better look.
