This prezzie from my friend Teuchter came in the mail the other day … and I was even given permission to open it before Christmas! So of course I did, since I am celebrating Christmas all month (and then some) here at casa az – up until Epiphany. At which point I shall celebrate my birthday! You guys will have to wait until next Saturday’s Photohunt to see what was inside this package (any guesses?), but suffice it to say that this was truly one of the most unexpected and superb gifts I have ever received.
These days I am more inclined to think of gifts in the form of experiences. Like the trip to Málaga, for which I received a surprise donation. Or being invited out for tapas – Nog usually takes me out about once a week. Also just having time to read and go to the gym. Let’s just say that, with another PET scan coming up soon, I’m not all that interested in acquiring more “stuff”. Though I am thinking about getting a kitten for Azar …
What sort of gifts do you like giving & receiving?

The last thing I want is more stuff, although a new macbook would really help since my old one has been dropped and the dvd doesn’t work anymore.
Like you I tend to think of experiences now, in fact I’m planning my next big excursion, I want to walk to Italy. I’d like it a lot if my friends would meet me for weekends along the way to check out new places.

I think people coming to meet you on your Italian walking trip would be wonderful gifts to receive, Andy.
Books are one of my favourites too, nursemyra, and fall into both categories: stuff & experiences.
I like to give gifts that people don’t expect, and possibly don’t even know they want until they get them. Which was why this one from Teuchter really amazed me.

Ability to travel more. Unfortunately my finances presently don’t allow me to travel or sponsor any travels. There are so much to see, to do and so many people to meet out there

Fascinating gadgets that solve problems — I love to do that for other people and I love getting something I’d never thought or heard of that saves work or makes something new possible. You can’t beat books, either.

I want people to solve my problems for me. I’ve got a Jesus Phone, but can’t get the plan working. I’ve got a terrfic apartment that’s such a mess I’m too depressed to clean it up. Etc, Etc.
But I would never turn down stuff. Particularly if it came in a Chanel 19 bottle.
By the way, your card was one of two I got before I left for the holidays. It really perked me up. Thanks.
