A couple of weeks ago on my rooftop az post I included this photo and at least one person commented on how comfy my lovely red sandals looked. And yeah well, they used to be, but they are actually pretty old now and the insoles are kind of falling to bits. I’ve put off buying my usual new annual pair of Mephistos for two years now since I hadn’t been out and about much these past two summers due to being on chemo. But suddenly my two last pair started falling apart at once. And now I can’t find any Mephistos I like anywhere!

I do have, and have always had, seriously hard-to-fit feet. Probably something to do with them being a normal length but triple EEE in width with a very high instep. Try fitting those babies into a standard B width shoe. Hence, I usually find sandals easier to wear because there are more “open spaces” … and once I discovered Mephistos I never looked back. Yes, they are  a bit more expensive, but they stand constant wearing 8 months out of the year and last a good 2-3 years.

I’d hoped to find something here in Málaga, especially as I’d been given a “mad money” gift awhile back that I said was going to be earmarked for new sandals. But so far no luck. Not really sure what to do now – I mean, take a look at these two guys close up if you dare (the black ones are actually a year older than the red ones). The shredded bits of insole end up shredding my own. Since I know I’ll be wearing sandals until at least the end of October, getting a new pair in August isn’t exactly frivolous. But where the hell can I find at least one decent pair of sandals to see me through? Without having to resort to total hideousness…

Meanwhile, here’s a pic of my last night in Sevilla before I left for Málaga – at my favourite Sevilla rooftop bar with Nog. I mean, just look at those happy feet!

My feet are ALWAYS happiest when barefoot. Always.
