… the traditional blues song opening, made famous by BB King (that’s his Gibson guitar called Lucille on the left). But there was nothing about having the blues this morning. Quite the opposite as it was the first morning waking up in the new casa az that things felt normal and that there was some sort of natural routine going on. Not just that awful “camping out” feeling, not being able to find your socks or the cat meds and stuff like that. Plus, because I’d repaired the broken shower, dealing with the way-too-small bathroom became that little bit less annoying. Also, most of the tiresome paperwork involving the switching over of utilities is almost over, and although there are still a few “handyman” jobs for the landlords to take care of, at least I know they’ll get done.
And so I woke up this morning and, after coffee in bed while writing a blog post for a client, I got up and showered, went out to the supermarket, came home to a relatively organised kitchen and did some prep work for tonight’s dinner with soon-to-be flatmate Jessica. Before that I have a class with Agustín – I usually go to his place but he’s coming here because he’s dying to see my new home. Meanwhile, I’m here at my desk working on some stuff for other clients. And well … it’s great. I love it. Living and working in my fab new light-filled space.
I’m home! 🙂
What a wonderfull feeling, being home. It is lovely once stuff’s been put away and your world is back to rights.

Well, about 1/4 of one’s stuff has been put away… still, way better than a week ago!
Also, looks like I don’t need the crutches anymore, which is a huge relief. Still hurts to walk, but I can feel it’s getting better.

Don’t overdo it! Just because it is improving, don’t put yourself back!

I know! My doctor pal Agustín came over for his class today and looked very concerned that my ankle is still all puffed out after two weeks. He says I should take anti-inflammatory pills… whatever. I just want to get better.

Nothing better than the feeling of ‘coming home’ after you’ve been out. So glad that this cloud has had such a shiny silver lining!

YIKES! I just counted up the different beds I have slept in over the past decade and just reached 27! (counting each different hotel/motel as one bed regardless of how many different rooms I stayed in over that time.) I am only now comfortable that I am “home” here at home 🙂
So a very understanding “well done” from here. Hope the ankle comes good soon.

I’m so glad you’re feeling at ease. It’s always the worst part of moving — that awkward flinch when you open your eyes in the morning, and remember you’re not put away yet, and the feeling that things are just wrong.
It took me about 3 months to feel “home” here, and it wasn’t finally comfy until after I paid some guys to haul off the ratty couch that came with the place. Long story, suffice it to say I was able to get my landlady to pay half the $167 removal fee. BIG ratty couch…
