This is for serious Loki fans only (you know who you are) – the string game! Loki first toy was an old shoe string, which the woman from the cat shelter put in with his blanky the day he moved in. Since then he’s had a variety of different strings and cords to play with. He also likes ping pong and rubber balls, but seems to prefer toys that he can drag around the house in his mouth. At first I tried getting him to chase balls by tossing them up the stairs, but they went too fast for him to have much fun with. Then I tried throwing the string…
Have you tried a table tennis ball sellotaped to a metre of string with the other end tied to a bamboo cane (or any piece of dowelling) about a metre long? It causes a riot!

Someone actually gave me a cat toy for Sunny that sounds exactly like what you are describing. It scared the hell out of him! Bet Loki would like it though.

Oh, I love his trilly little meow — it’s still musical even though he’s all grown up. I swear he is Son Of Fergie.

Loki plays fetch way better than my dog!

That was just like watching a dog play fetch! This video also really showed Loki’s unique markings very well. What a gorgeous kitteh!

I thought Benjamin might be interested in Loki running about and his chittering. Nope.
I had a cat, Macavity, who would chase marbles. I would throw them up the stairs and she would run after them and bring them back. Benjamin used to love playing with “Scrappy Doll”, the Gund pony we adapted for use as a way of getting him to stop attaching, scratching, and biting our ankles (we’d “attack” him with Scrappy Doll” and he would fight with “Scrappy” instead of or ankles). We had a long hallway the length of our apartment and we would toss Scrappy Doll up and down the hallway and Benjamin would attack him and bring him back to us, or whoever was at the other end of the hallway. It was tiring for one person to run back and forth but if there were two of us, Benjamin would tire out before we would. He LOVED the game.
He doesn’t even play with Scrappy Doll much any more. Once in a while I will hear the bell around Scrappy’s neck jingling. but very rarely. Makes me sad.

Sunny and Lua both used to play fetch with olives, but lost interest as they got older. Loki doesn’t seem interested in olives. And Azar is far too dignified to *fetch* anything.

Glad that so far everyone seems to be noticing Loki’s antics and gorgeous markings and NOT all the crap that fell onto the back of the stairs during yesterday’s bbq (lugging food and stuff up and down, spilling along the way). I took this video just after getting up this morning and didn’t notice until replaying it that the stairs were in such a mess. Well, never mind….
