Well dammit! After a week of not-so-subtle hints my back finally gave out this morning. I suppose I shouldn’t feel so put out about putting my back out, as it’s been over two years since the last serious episode, but it’s always so frustrating, not to mention IT REALLY HURTS.
Weird how you can feel it sneaking up yet it’s almost impossible to do anything about it happening. Though I must admit I haven’t been doing my “cobras” on a daily basis. From now on I will. I promise. Because this hurts like fuckity.
I have slathered on the BioFreeze which, thanks to Sledpress, I still have in supply. And am now considering opening a bottle of Botani, both for medicinal purposes and to celebrate Sled’s birthday.
In the end I blame myself and will no longer leave my bed in the morning without having done at least three cobras. Heck, even the cats don’t get up without stretching first…
Wine for medicinal purposes is an excellent idea. Alcohol is a good muscle relaxant. I speak as a fellow back muscle spasm sufferer! I feel for you and will have some alcohol on your account π

I find it relaxes the brain too.

Lotus-type seated poses are good to adopt too, stretches out the muscles on the sides of the hips that can shorten up the fascia of the low back. Just something to throw in when working at the computer or watching movies — you don’t have to do both legs at one time, a nice half lotus on the couch can be a real help…
Let me know when te Biofreeze runs low!

It’s been a hellish day. Such intense pain. Nothing I haven’t had before, but it’s been awhile, you know? One more slathering of BioFreeze before bed and then the hope that I’ll be able to sleep. I think Nog is miffed that my excrutiating back pain beats his chronic shoulder pain… but he still has to clean the bathroom!

Oh, ouch! I hope the pain lets up soon.
By the way, my mother really appreciates the recommendation for the “faja.” We ordered her one that should be arriving on Tuesday.

Better late than never! They say you should wear it for a month. I only lasted about a week.

I hope this is better, soon, Az. The back is the WORST! Gentle hugs, Hon!

Keep at it – at least you know that with some relaxing, and some stretching it will improve.

It was a long and mostly sleepless night, then spent most of the morning in bed trying to get up. Thought it best to borrow a crutch as it would not only make getting around the house easier, but it would stop me from listing painfully to the right and putting even more stress on the damaged area. At first I thought I wouldn’t even be able to sit at my desk but as long as I (painfully) move around from time to time I don’t seriously seize up.
Have a lunch date tomorrow. I plan on making it!
Though what I would really love right now is a shower. Impossible both yesterday and today and I am starting to gross myself out. Hair looks like I’ve combed mayonnaise through it…

When my wife broke her foot I helpfully enabled her to cook by lending her my computer chair (with wheels). Hope you get better soon!

How selfless of you! I’ve already got a wheely computer chair that hurts like hell to sit in, and just about managed to make myself a sandwich for lunch… think I’ll be sending Nog out for take-away pizza when he gets home.
Having the crutch helps a lot, but I can really only bend about 10ΒΊ, which isn’t good for much. A couple of very careful shallow knee bends have helped out today, but getting dressed (trousers, socks…) took almost half an hour this morning. And no way I can shower. But if things remain the same tomorrow I’ll put a small wooden stool in the tub and have a sitting down shower.

As well as your cobras – just try lying on the floor foor a while – supporting your chest on a cushion.
