I mean, it started off okay. And nothing went horribly wrong. But things kept not going right. You know the sort of day I mean? Well, this was my Monday. At least until about an hour ago (it’s now 8pm).

I was actually supposed to have taken Luna and Loki to the vet’s for booster shots today, but one of Peter’s students changed her Friday class to this morning so I changed the appointment to Friday, because there’s no way I can handle taking two beasties to the vet’s on my own.

So fine. This freed up my late morning so I could go to the hospital to get my chemo port cleaned. I’d actually forgotten all about it – really should’ve gone last week. Anyhoodle, decided to make it a good morning and go to the gym before heading off to the hospital (new port cleaning hours are 12.00-1.00). And because Peter’s shoulder is causing him grief and he’s been complaining non-stop I thought it might be a good idea for him to go to emergency instead of waiting two months for the MRI… and this is when things started to go crappy.

I met Peter after his class and we got a taxi to the hospital (a luxury I give myself once a month) and I was in and out of the port cleaning session within ten minutes of arriving. Also had a male nurse with a very dry sense of humour, which I loved and made the most of, practicing being funny in Spanish. I think he enjoyed it. And then it was on to emergency…

Can I tell you? I hate hospitals. And I especially hate hospital waiting rooms that tend to be hot and smelly and totally depressing. Today’s waiting room experience was no exception. After about an hour P finally got in to see the doctor who basically rolled her eyes and said there was nothing more they could do since he was already scheduled to have an MRI, blah, blah… yeah, waste of time.

Then a taxi ride from hell back to the centre of town… not the taxi driver’s fault as there were TWO accidents and traffic was crawling past the two police points. So taxi ended up costing almost double (if we hadn’t gone to emergency for nuthin I’d have missed the accidents…) and then in an effort not to totally waste the rest of the morning we stopped off at a bar where Peter has been giving English classes to talk to the manager. Who was talking to someone else. For half an hour. Showing no sign of stopping. Gaaah. Decided to cut our time loss and get out of there and back HOME…

I know, I know… probably none of this sounds particularly horrible – because it wasn’t. But just a lot of niggly and irritating nonsense, one after the other. Then after a bit of lunch and a rest, Peter went off to a new class that started tonight. And I went… aaaahhhhhhh! I put some Christmas music on the iPod, got out the decorations, and started getting the place looking festive.

And now I am heading out for dinner at Anna & Jorge’s, which I am very much looking forward to as I am quite sure they both cook as well as I do. 😉  Peter will join us after his class finishes.

How was your Monday?
